Football isnt diverse enough according to stormzy

😀 Lots of unconscious bias being displayed on this thread (and quite a bit of the conscious sort too), probably best he just shut the fuck up to make things easier.
Arr the old conscious bias put down favoured by race baiters.
It's becoming more obvious that the only people who see colour as an issue are the small percfentage of racists and the even bigger group of race baiters.
Not sure which I hate more.

We need to stop all this shite like. It just fuels a stupid petty racism debate for no reason. Professional football players are picked on merit, not the colour of their skin.
That should be the case, full stop.
Best person for job. Ethnicity nor sexuality should have any bearing. If someone keeps applying for jobs, in any industry, and is continually knocked back I would suggest they look at their own credentials. Perhaps they are under qualified, have insufficient experience and are aiming too high or perhaps need to address their interview techniques.
I applied for a role recently. I wasn’t successful. I do not put that down to being white, bald or somewhat rotund. I am fairly confident I asked for too much money and didn’t give my finest interview performance.
I am still on the fence as to whether I learn from that or play the race card / fatist card.

You probably didn’t get it because you’re a mag tbf

It doesn’t seem to be so much about players, as about the other roles in clubs.

43% of players being black or mixed race, and only 6% of senior roles being so says something isn’t right somewhere to me. It would be interesting to see how this compares with the number of applications for those roles.
The problem with statistics is the way the numbers are chosen for particular purposes, often for political or pressure group purposes. Those quoted can be read strongly in one direction. However, context is also important. Looking at a broader range of statistics suggests the white population playing football might be under represented. Then again, I would ask what is meant by ‘mixed race’ ie other than black eg are my children mixed race as I am English and my wife’s mother is Welsh?

To add to my earlier comment read this:

😀 Try and make your mind up. Hopefully you are only offended on behalf of the ones displaying conscious bias?

Saw an article in the dailymail that a white bloke got fired to promote racial equity. They said it was nothing to do with his performance, it was just time to open this position up to a more diverse field.

It's recieved very little recognition worldwide, as you'd expect. Compare it to the recognition I'm a celeb recieved becsuse the first two voted out were black, complete madness.

I came in here and thought surely stormzy means this in regards to ownership and staff. Glad to see I was right

Do they need employment after their playing career ends though. Maybe they just don’t want senior roles. 5% of the population is black iirc and although a disproportionate amount become players maybe that doesn’t translate to management roles.

It’s about equality of opportunity I guess.

Was this story in the Daily Mail actually true though?

The Daily Mail wouldn't be my choice for balanced reporting in this issue.

Were the employers not a bit suspicious when Alan Thompson, Shamima Khan and Ade Adebayo all had identical CVs?
And also possibly a little pissed-off when they contacted who they thought were ideal candidates for interview only to find they'd been had, and that they'd wasted x number of man/woman hours sifting through the CVs only to have to do it all again?
