Football isnt diverse enough according to stormzy

It doesn’t seem to be so much about players, as about the other roles in clubs.

43% of players being black or mixed race, and only 6% of senior roles being so says something isn’t right somewhere to me. It would be interesting to see how this compares with the number of applications for those roles.

I'm sorry but this is absolutely ridiculous, football has to be the most diverse sport in the world and to introduce an initiative where you have to hire a certain % of people based on their skin colour is very dangerous.

I’ve only skimmed the report but where does it say that “you have to hire a certain percentage based on their skin colour”? Apart from anything Stormzy says, that’s illegal.

He seems like a pleasant enough chap and if it helps folk under challenging circumstances or provides a helpful experience then great.

As to the diversity stuff, I have no idea as without the figures @Roger spoke of, I have no idea if or why it would be skewed.

I think you havent seen the full details....Its not about players , its about off the field e.g coaches /management/admin/directors etc .....SKY said , while there is 39% of players that are diverse , there is only 6% working off the field behind the scenes.

My view is you pick the best people for the work required regardeless of anything else....

6% is closer to the national average in the general population in the UK. 43% is a massively skewed figure, I don't see anyone complaining about that and rightly so

This...seen him interviewed a few times and he comes across very well tbf and quite a humble guy, nothing like what I would have expected.

Was very good on Graham Norton recently and has the "yoof" of this country in the palm of his hand.

I didn't know much about him either bar his odd track, watched his Louie interview and he won me over like. A lad who did some questionable things as a kid worked at his craft and pulled himself up. He's not what you expect from his earlier music etc.

Yes its other staff, not players. It used to be that mind,I remember discussing with a high ranked coach 11 years ago why a black CF kept getting extensions to academy contract when he was dire and he said the academy mix had to reflect the towns ethnicity.

Not just applicants but take into account qualifications and ability too.
I'm sure nobody wants someone in a role they are less qualified for than their peers for just because of skin colour or sex right? That would be racist and that's what this is about right?
