FODMAP Diet

Been advised to try this diet for 4 weeks to see if I have IBS.

Has anyone been on this diet before and if so can you share some recipe's with me? I have found a few websites which are based on this diet but they want me to pay to sign up.

I have literally no experience of this diet before so am pretty clueless at the minute.

It's pretty rough getting used to it, I thankfully didn't have IBS just a severe bacterial inbalance or whatever.

Chris Kresser - has some good material which requires an e-mail subcription, but can be off putting as to how indepth it is.

The recipes I stuck to were all actually keto/whole30 that I cross refed with this LOW AND HIGH FODMAP DIET CHECKLISTS

Eating out/lunch was the hardest bit so I tended to have a decent breakfast and a big meal when I got in from work.

I was trying to bump the thread and do you a favour you ungrateful windy freak.

It would help if you told the people who you want advice from what the abbreviation is.

My last piece of help is to tag @becs as I think that she quite literally might have some advice.

Stands for Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides And Polyols, basically all sugars that absorb straight through your small intestine.

It sounds like a bit of a bugger, it makes you realise and appreciate how straightforward life is when you don’t have to worry too much about what you eat.

Well you definitely have the irritable part. Just a case of figuring out where it is.
 
Immature Bumming Syndrome.

I’m unsure why we offer help to people on these pleading for advice threads. I never lower myself to begging on the SMB I just buy a Haynes manual for everything.

I started a thread with a genuine attempt to get advice from others regarding something I know very little about. The target audience of this thread was people who has experience of this diet. You replied offering nothing but sarcasm and in my opinion being pretty rude. What more is there to say?

Oh yeah, I bet you don't even own a Ford Capri :)

I’m not being an arse but you did pose the question on a football related forum where a very small percentage would be aware of a specialised diet.

I don’t expect you to accept abuse from anyone, it was more of a light hearted ribbing at your misuse of the English language.

But I genuinely wish you well in your fight against irritation.

I have seen numerous posters, posts and threads on here in recent years where people have spoken about their IBS / stomach issues. I did attempt to find a recent one in the search bar to post my question there rather than start a thread however couldn't find one. I believe it was a very reasonable expectation to gain advice about this matter on this forum.

Anyway, there is no reason to continue this conversation so thanks for the contribution.

Sorry for the late reply. I've only just seen this.

There's a list of good and bad foods here:
FODMAP Food List | IBS Diets

However it varies from person to person as to what irritates and what doesn't. For example spinach and tuna are good foods, but they really irritate my symptoms. Garlic and onions are on the really bad list but I eat loads of those with no effect.

You could also look at low residue:
The Low-Residue Diet: A Treatment for Crohn's Disease?

It's not healthy to stay on that long term, but it's fine for a week or so until your symptoms settle down. Then start introducing other foods and seeing what happens. You should be able to work out your trigger foods that way and avoid them.
