Wow I’m amazed they can carry enough fuel - weight must be a big factor. And weather conditions (wind etc)

Being too lazy to look into it myself, I assume that when the motor is on it is elevating, then when it’s switched off you start to descend?

I was surprised how manoeuvrable they were - one lad was doing quite hard banked turns but seemed to lose height as he did the turn. I imagine they use wind to climb but they was barely a breath at Seaburn yesterday.
