The police are now removing anglers from the Pier at South Shields. You can still fish up to the First Gate which is closed but not beyond.
If caught fishing beyond the first gate you will be removed and issued with a caution. For trespass.
If caught a second time you will be prosecuted.
The latest word is the South Shields pier will be closed for 2 years.
