We supply the bloke who supplies Papas and he uses an unbelievable amount of fish. His fish and chips are great and very cheap. Do not bother with ooh aargh Bob Carver. They are shit. In hull I would go to Cave street off Beverly Road. And Dundee Fisheries on Chanterlands Ave. great shops.

Heard Bob Carver's, although legendary, wasn't worth the bother these days, and also heard good things about the one on Chants Ave.

Went back to Papas on Friday. No photos. Same as last time, still excellent.

Noticed that they had a sourcing board, telling you where everything comes from. The name of the Norwegian trawler that the cod and haddock came off. The fact that it was line caught. The farm the potatoes came from and the type of potato. And what frying medium they use. Never seen a sourcing board in any other chippy. Will get a photo for the SMB next time I am in.

Was it andenesfisk or Leinebris ?? Saying that, a couple of weeks ago they had a sign up
Saying the plaice they were selling was from Andenesfisk - it hasn't caught a plaice since it was launched !!
The 2 boys at Papas are clever kids. One is a qualified doctor and one is a solicitor. They prefer doing fish and chips though. More money in it as well !!

I'm off to Freddie's at Esh Winning in a minute.

They've set themselves up as some sort of Fish & Chip nirvana. A difficult task in the same village as the famous 'coal fired' Fields.

However, it isn't FSF and so won't be posting a review. It's only Tuesday FFS! Another major reason is that I'm allergic to fish and so wont be able to supply the necessary 'money shot'. I don't think a spam fritter would pass muster.

Is that 3 shops in rah winning now ? Freddie's , the new one. Fields. And the one opposite Fields garage on the junction. If so, that seems a lot of shops for such a small place. That Freddie's is cheap for his fish. He will struggle to make money at those levels.

Of course he's spot on, he @ozz the great and powerful
Too kind marra !

Worth a jaunt to Bolton or Willerby to go to Papas.
When I was in Hull,Challis's on Hessle Road was superb. Not a patch now though. The best shop in the East Riding though was Pecks in Beverley. All they sold was fish and chips and latterly sausages. Probably the best fish and chips I have ever had. Sadly , they got an offer they couldn't refuse for the property and it has now gone.

Bilton not Bolton !!
