My first away game, 86/87 season was when I was introduced to football, made my Oakwell debut in the league cup against Tottenham Hotspur as a 6 year old been hooked ever since.

Colin Nelson was an amateur who was a pharmacist in Boldon. Jimmy Davison was a fast lad on the wing. It was a good job the stands were there because he would have ran straight out of the Roker End.

Right behind the goal when Billy Hughes missed a penaly. The ball struck the inside of the post. A magnificent diving save from a Luton defender preceeded the penalty award and in those days that was not even a booking nevet mind a sending off.

That was the game that persuaded the Forest manager to pay 100 grand for Baxter the following month. That game was reckoned to Baxter's finest performance in a sunderland shirt since his home debut against shef utd
