77 Liverpool v man u I was 7

Loved the fa cup for years, it was the biggest thing in the world of football when I was a kid, partly because it was the only match live on telly.

It's shite now, for many reasons.

This.
Those finals in the 80’s where cup final Grandstand started early in the morning.
Cameras were at the team hotels , on the team buses on the way to Wembley.
It was a full day of entertainment, great memories

Was the first final for me, not that I remember too much about it tbh other than I wanted Everton to win. The year after it was Man.City v Leicester and I was a bit more into football by then and remember more of the match. Watched all the finals up to the mid 90's but not been too arsed since they started playing the semifinals at Wembley, didn't bother watching the final yesterday.
WBA was the year before City btw

Mine was Spurs v Man City 1981.
The whole build up was class, from being at the teams hotels and the coach trip and struggle down Wembley way to the memories from years ago. When did the magic go, semis at Wembley and time change?
The bloke running on the pitch in the 1966 FA Cup Final.

In 1973 and 1974 I didn't really realise what was going on or how rare it was for a North East team to be in the final.

This.
My first five finals featured eight clubs, but now it seems to be compulsory for Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal to be there and working backwards in five year increments it looks like 4-6 clubs per increment. Mainly those three obviously...footballs soul is dying.

Charlie George lying on his back in 1971. I was too young to realise the cup was a knockout competition, and because it was the only live game on tv all season, thought every club had a turn at going to Wembley. So I wondered if it was Sunderland's turn soon .....

Everton v Sheffield Wednesday in 1966 and sniggering at the name Mike Trebilcock.
Still do.

Eng v Sco was always live iirc. When was the European Cup first live because I’m sure I remember watching Feyenoord bore Celtic to death live.
