First FA cup final memory

Ye can't beat cup final grandstand, it's not like it used to be....

First memory was probably crystal palace 3 man utd 3, 1990, a classic final.....

1956 neighbour's house. Vague memories but main memorable bit was goalkeeper Bert Trautmann playing on with what turned out to be a broken neck.
Man City v Birmingham.....3-1 to City.

Mine was Spurs v Man City 1981.
The whole build up was class, from being at the teams hotels and the coach trip and struggle down Wembley way to the memories from years ago. When did the magic go, semis at Wembley and time change?
1972 Leeds v Arsenal - Mick Jones playing with his arm in a sling and Sniffer grabbing the winner

The Late Bobby Stokes, Southampton 1 Man Utd 0.
Unsung hero- same with Roger Osborne in '78

Can remember Chelsea beating Aston Villa in 2000 - last one at the old Wembley.

First one I can vividly remember is wanting Arsenal to beat Liverpool in 2001. Michael Owen gets 2 in the last 5 minutes to turn it round.

I was at that chelsea villa one.. with loadsa chelsea boys who were searching for villas lads seriously hundreds of them...about an hour before kick off went to meet my mate who was with villas lads good squad of them too but luckily for police the two never met..game was OK but difficult to get in to it when not emotionally involved

73. In our flat, all the family watching, my dad swinging me all over when Porterfield scored.

My dad took me to the man city replay as my first game. He'd collected all the tokens in the programmes during each round, even went to Hillsborough and stood/sat in the arsenal end. He was sat next to another Sunderland fan who had a fladk full of whiskey. They were arseholed when they came out.

Anyway, he missed getting a ticket to the final because he had to stay late at work when they went on sale.

Still saddens me to this day, knowing how mad a fan he is.

Liverpool v Everton circa 1986, remember watching it round me grandars at Farringdon, Grandstand on BBC, remember Ian Rush scoring.

WBA v Everton. Went out to play football in the street at HT and nivver came back for second half apparently. Went to ET anarl.
Was the first final for me, not that I remember too much about it tbh other than I wanted Everton to win. The year after it was Man.City v Leicester and I was a bit more into football by then and remember more of the match. Watched all the finals up to the mid 90's but not been too arsed since they started playing the semifinals at Wembley, didn't bother watching the final yesterday.

Was 87 not a Wimbledon v Liverpool

Bloody hell I would have gone for a million pound on who wants to millionaire on that being 86

88 that wimbledon one.

85 ev v mu?
86 liv v ev
87 cov v spurs
88 wim v liv

77 Liverpool v man u I was 7

Loved the fa cup for years, it was the biggest thing in the world of football when I was a kid, partly because it was the only match live on telly.

It's shite now, for many reasons.

My first - ESPN had just started up and carried it. I had no idea it was happening, woke up on the Saturday morning over here and saw it on just as the second half was starting. More than anything else I remember guys cramping up in extra time. Crazy thing was I don't think ESPN showed the replay.

1979 arsenal not sure if that’s media replays or genuine memory, think it’s a memory

1979 here as well, I remember watching it at a friends house a few doors down because they had a colour telly! I would've been 8

For football I remember 1975 clearly when West Ham beat Fulham easily.

I do have vague recollections of 1973, I was 6 and a half. We had red and white banners up in the house and we wore red and white plastic bowler hats. We also got a colour telly too.

The next year we put the banners up again when Liverpool played the mags but my Dad wasn't really anti mag at the time. It was just putting the banners up for us bairns to make the day a bit special.

In 1973 and 1974 I didn't really realise what was going on or how rare it was for a North East team to be in the final.
