Spurs paid 1.5 mil last january for Holtby after signing him to a pre contract agreement
We Sold Campbell last january for 600k and Meyler was sold.
like I said best of luck...................if you really think the likes of Garner on top dollar wages can be sold in January that's great..........Holtby will have signed as he doubtless got a canny wage rise.......

They wont be going anywhere as folk wont pay them what we are.............

Thing is he played well in pre-season and played well against Fulham, i think it was his attitude in training rather than on the field that let him down!
He's not good enough. Kevin ball had him for the stiffs and only played him a couple of times, and when he was caretaker didn't pick him. Get shot along with ceullar Gardner Vaughan. Their wages will more than cover someone like meireles from besitkas on loan till the end of the season.

If he plays against Carlisle and has another stinker then it will probablies be the nail in the coffin for him but i definitely think he should be given one last opportunity IMO

Lets see if he gets a game first. If he doesn't, then that tells you everything. Although poyet did give ji a game against villa, I thought it was a strange one myself.

we'll soon find out! but we all know Gus isnt afraid to changeit if things arent working out!

If any of us were ellis short, you've got think and look at how the hell are cardiff, hull, Swansea, stoke, west ham, crystal palace, Fulham are above us. It's little wonder he's had a twitchy trigger finger, and closed his wallet.
This is exactly it. How have other teams managed it? Look at even the likes of Everton - similar crowds but poor infrastructure and they are quite consistently a very good team. They don't outspend us and I bet their wage bill isn't any higher.
Maybe it's the case that we are still seen as an unattractive option for players and consequently have to pay a premium for average players.
I also wonder if maybe we are a bit ahead of the game in trying to address our financial problems in comparison to other teams.

Everton have a smaller squad with more quality emphasised on about 18 first teamers, with the rest made up of youth. Add to that a very good scouting network. Seamus Coleman 600 k from Eire for an example.

And this I believe is what Short was trying to achieve before this summer's madness.
In that respect, was De Fanti given too much power would be the pertinent question?

De Fantis a f***ing clueless idiot, 14 new players and all of em not good enough, possibly giacherrinni the only one I'd keep along with vito

I wouldn't particularly say Everton have a great scouting network. I think you would be pushed to find many more examples like Coleman, plus it's not like they're the only PL club to have delved into the Irish league for up and coming talent.

It might have been his vision, but it can't be implemented in one window. It takes time, a lot of time actually. It's not gone well and it looks like it will cost us our premier league status, sadly, but who knows. Moyes struggled in his first couple of seasons and it proves, if you stick by your manager it pays dividends. Not suggesting we should've stuck by previous managers, I just hope he sticks by poyet now. If indeed poyets wants to stay.[DOUBLEPOST=1388760180][/DOUBLEPOST]

Their scouting network has been a lot better than ours.
