so the 12 who are out of contract / loans are ending, How much do you think they are on? Id guess
Westwood - 20k
Bardsley - 30k
Cuellar - 20k
Dossena - 20k
Larsson - 35k
Gardner - 35k
Colback - 15k
Ji - 15k
Ki - 20k
Celustka - 10k
Borini - 20k
Alonso - 10k
so 250k Per week we would be saving which is 13 million per year, that is a lot of room to manoeuvre with, I'm sure if we stay up a few would be offered new contracts / aimed to sign on a permeant deal but if we go down its helped get rid of a lot of high earners

I think if we can get money for some of them in this window instead of letting them go for free in the summer we should do it and promote a youth player i.e Larsson and Gardner we still have El Hadji Ba, Cabral and the option still to recall Ndiaye, not to mention Mavrias and DMK, getting rid of Cuellar still means we have Roberge, O'Shea, Brown and Diakite, we could just push Laing and Egan up the pecking order.

I know its not just as straight forward as that but i think we have to be looking to do that but its just a case of does Gus see any of them in his plans.

For me id be looking to tie up a deals for Ki, Colback and Westwood, i would like Borini too but dont think Liverpool would sell... Ji needs more game time because i think he could be a good player in Gus' way of playing

Its all IF's and BUT's right now though!

Lets hope there's a few out then. Our wage bill is like a big weight around our neck. It's stifling the club. Ceullar Gardner Vaughan cabral for starters.

Its been like that since Keane...he had 13 senior players out on loan....Short came in and had to deal with it.
Trouble is we've bought players who are no better than the last lot....like a revolving door.

Why would clubs pay a fee when they can talk to them now and agree a pre contract without one in the summer...............?

We couldn't give away half those players in the summer so can't see anyone paying money for them now. Even if they would then the players may well refuse knowing they will be in a strong bargaining position as free agents.

I agree, Let Vaughan and Cuellar go for free to any club who will take them and we will not notice they arnt here.
Id look to sell Gardner and Cabral this window and recall alf. If we let those 4 go, even for free and recalled Alf we would be in a stronger position

I agree. We've had no stability on or off the field. Stick with poyet ( if he wants to stick with us )

Because if they are in danger of going down it will be too late in the summer, you won't get much of a fee but you would get a bit, If say we got 500k for Gardner then we get his wages off our bill and get 500k, they get him 6 months earlier

Many of the problems we now have can be traced back to Drumaville. They spent an absolute fortune and were lucky to get away from the club unscathed.

Mind that's not to say we don't owe them for their initial investment which got us out of the championship. Things only started to go wrong once we gained promotion

I think it will be players who are ont he fringes and who dont fit his system or style of play. Flecther being the main one. Other than that it is who would be wanted by other clubs.

So maybe the comments from the coach about Fletcher being nursed are a smokescreen...I thought he would be in the plans....nevermind anything to keep us up.

your completely right but we've got to be atleast trying to do it, like i said its all IF's and But's .. it all looks well and good on paper![DOUBLEPOST=1388756157][/DOUBLEPOST]

I dont know why but i think Cabral could come good!

Yes, just get them off the books, even pay for the taxi. It's crippling us and we've no scope to bring in some quality. Even if they don't want to come here, we've no room on the wage bill.

Best of luck with that then..............you might get the odd one loaned out like Vaughan but you wont get fees for those out of contract in the summer.............

We would certainly have to tread carefully though because if you end up upsetting a player then that really puts you up shit creek!

Think we probably got promoted too quickly....then blew the warchest.
Keane must have had a lot of control....two points stick out....he said you've got to pay the wages....and said you cant have too many players....
In 2010 this had to change as the 25 man squad rule was looming....but apart from that we were snookered without more cash.

Spurs paid 1.5 mil last january for Holtby after signing him to a pre contract agreement
We Sold Campbell last january for 600k and Meyler was sold.

In fairness, he'd be absolutely right[DOUBLEPOST=1388756262][/DOUBLEPOST]
Probably the same reason that people thought Arnau would too

Thing is he played well in pre-season and played well against Fulham, i think it was his attitude in training rather than on the field that let him down!
