The truly sad thing is; we've somehow managed to blow the investment we've always craved. Millions have left the club and it appears we are back to square one.

I think they do but its very easy to just dismiss £150 million when its not yours.............as far as Kudos goes with Ellis though its not convincing when youre as reclusive as he is...........He has made his money in financials and will be very aware that any investment can go up or down. I don't think these rich men go into football to make money, rather the kudos that go with owning a football team. Those kudos are far greater for a Premier League team than a Championship side and Premier wannabe.
I was very pleased we signed Johnson, but we all knew he was inconsistent.I can still remember the night on this messageboard when we signed Johnson, everybody was absolutely ecstatic that we'd managed to pull of a signing like him, lets not start to rewrite history here, not a single person was saying it was "terrible business".
It looks to me as though Short has, in true SAFC style, bottled it. He's lost his nerve through some inept decisions of his own making. He's backed all his managers to varying degrees. People on here are actually calling him an asset stripper for goodness sake. If Gus' targets can be secured without spending crazy money then I've no doubt he'll make that commitment as doing nothing almost guarantees relegation.

Thats a good point. The fact is though they stil have players who can command large fee's like Cabaye etc. We sold all of ours and still are in the shite.

I'm not rewriting history, just posting a piece of business which has hampered the club and turned into poor business.
Thats where we have gone badly wrong....the idea was to build up the squad and add a couple of quality players each season....this was said by Quinn in 2010.
Mon wanted to revamp the squad in 2012 but Short wanted to continue with the quality approach....Fletcher and Johnson.
Maybe in 2013 Short had seen enough after backing his managers with reasonable amounts to spend...we've got very little to sell now and a owner who is reluctant to push the boat out....who can blame him.
Signing fletcher and Johnson has proved that we've tried pretty much every approach and are still utter shitI actually agree with you for a change. Fletcher and AJ were 2 signings that most were happy with and to pay a premium. However, ALF and Graham for nearly 10m is awful, truly awful.
Always have been, TimRadical!![]()

Agree mate. Its going to be a massive transition for SAFC and our team. It not looking good IMO.

If we're down I'll accept it...its a mess and no better than the end of Murrays time where we had relegation and £50m debts.
Start again with players on 5-10 grand a week....the likes of Swansea have shown a way forward.
If any of us were ellis short, you've got think and look at how the hell are cardiff, hull, Swansea, stoke, west ham, crystal palace, Fulham are above us. It's little wonder he's had a twitchy trigger finger, and closed his wallet.
Aye. Be interesting to see how much backing GUS gets this window. I can not help feeling it will be players out before players come in.
Lets hope there's a few out then. Our wage bill is like a big weight around our neck. It's stifling the club. Ceullar Gardner Vaughan cabral for starters.Aye. Be interesting to see how much backing GUS gets this window. I can not help feeling it will be players out before players come in.
I cant see him objecting much....he begged for a chance at the big time....this will have been stated when he joined.
