Net Assets = negative £26m, would be hard pushed to find any invester willing to pay for such a lopsided balance sheet! But I guess it's hardly unusual in football these days. Different world!!

Ignore me, I was just looking at football club level, at group the Assets figure is greater as we hold the Stadium of light at Holding company level. Currently valued at £82m, so at Group level the Investment in Sunderland AFC is valued at £67m.

The holding company also includes the Foundation. And holds a bank loan for £32m. Net Assets in at Group = £47m.

The extra undertakings from Intercompany was an £18m loan from Drumaville Limited, no reason given, but no repayment date and no interest. Drumaville is referred to as the immediate parent undertaking altho Ellis is not listed as a Director. E Watts signs the accounts off. Ellis is understood to be the ultimate controlling party.

Where have people found these? Would be interested in having a look.

Companies House most probably.

Aye £1

The other thing to note is the value of the players on the b/s won't be there market value.

Aye, the depreciation of the players' 'value' always skews things a bit. Cash in vs Cash out is usually a better indication of how things are going. The book value of the squad often bears no resemblance to their actual value. It has to be done because of Bosman but it blurs things a bit.

I think it is probably the best method to value players and the accounting treatment seems fair enough as well. Essentially capitalising players.

Canny article on Swiss ramble about your lots financial results and mikes stewardship of the club. He makes the same point about the value of players and the balance sheet v market value, which is where I remembered it from.

Aye, it was mentioned earlier. He's an intelligent bloke, whoever writes them, and it's generally interesting.

As regards SAFC's results it all has to be put into to context and compared to what has gone immediately before. The overall trend of what's going on can be seen year-on-year.

In laymans terms we shouldnt have too much to spend in the Summer then am I right?

Judging from our results they are getting better but there isnt money there to spend unless we have another big sale, which im worried about (Sess)

Agreed, although I think relative comparison with other clubs can be useful as well.
