Financial results out

Re: Financial results announced

So, despite selling two players for 42 million pounds last year, there was still a seven million pound shortfall.

Not as encouraging as the club are making out perhaps?

42 million?

Very similiar to the Mags results, putting the house in order after a period of unsustainable losses. The y/e 2012 results will be better and the 2013 results are the key ones where we should see a jump in commercial revenue.

Re: Financial results announced

Its f***ing madness that when there has never been so much money getting pumped into the game through, TV, gate receipts, sponsorship etc that clubs are still losing millions every year

Total f***ing madness, only two winners in this game. Players and there agents

Darren Bent sale if say £20m, wasn't a £20m profit as we paid out substantial amount to buy him in the first place.

Henderson deal would've been pure profit though since cost us nothing.

However, its all timing. The results would also cover the purchase of Gyan for £13m and we didnt loan him out until August so nothing was received back for him within these results.

.

We also paid what we owed to Spurs off, whilst not recieving all of the money for his sale during that period anyway.

You can never really tell with results like these as different things are spread out over many years. I'd be really interested to see this years wage bill when it comes out though, I think it'll have gone down but by nowhere near as much as people were making out in Bruce's defence.

Those figures also won't include the sale of Henderson so that plus the Gyan loan fee will be £20m+. The key figure which should also be reduced but isn't mentioned is how much of the turnover is the players wages. That was pretty high, circa 60-70% iirc, but should have dropped considerably.

Re: Financial results announced

Where would/will football be without sky. Add to this the deregulation of football agents and the money being leeched out of the game will be phenomenal.

I think the mags business model is very shrewd. They will sell at least two out of Tiote, Krul and Colocini for a silly amount of money and spend a lot less than they recoup. The football side of that is very risky, you can't keep plucking players out of the french league or lower leagues and match the aspiration/expectations of the fans.

I've faith in Short and his team, the revenue going up is encouraging.

Bloody two threads on this now.

Bit in bold why not? He signed for liverpool in June 2011:confused:

Re: Financial results announced

Cos Liverpool never paid up in full in June.
As I said in the other thread, that is cashflow. The amount remaining (as they didn't pay in full) will be in trade debtors apart from any performance related amounts. The full amount of the initial fee will be recognised in the P&L. I can't see why it wouldn't be:confused:

Doesn't matter, if they'd agreed the sale it'll be in in full. The only bits which won't be in are any clauses based on future performance. Not paying up will just make it a debtor.

The only way to get a proper handle on these results, is to view the figures through an impartial medium, rather than the club's official website.
So I'll wait before I commment until I've read tonight's Evening Chronicle or tomorrow morning's Journal before speculating whether these figures are good, bad or indifferent.

How does that one work then:?:

as in t'other thread, you are correct. Profit & Cash two very different things! Only way henderson fee won't be included will be if there is a funny with regards to date the registration changed, whether it's inside the 31st Jul, or after.

Also correct that only the sanctioned 'fee' will be capitalised as an asset and amortised, performance related extras hit the P&L as the clause or bonus is triggered.
