Films that mess with your mind

Thought that it's a Jekyll and Hyde transplant? The book is considered a modern day classic. Doubt I'll be reading it after the film.
2 and a half hours of my life i'll never get back is all i know about it... easily the shittest film of the last 30 years (its even worse than that 2004 classic white chicks).

I've watched a few in the last month, 'Everything, Everywhere, All At Once', Men and I'm Thinking of Ending Things.

The Wicker Man mostly for the ending where I was expecting the sergeants colleagues from the mainland to come and save him. Wasn't used to films without a happy ending.
True. Although to a very naïve 12 year old, the lass dancing with nowt on and the abundance of boobies throughout the film made the cops impending immolation worth it. ACAB anyway.

Who's a fan of having their melon properly twisted by a film? Where it's not just a case of strange goings on but where it's so intense and discombobulating that you start to lose your mind?

There's obviously the big classics like Luis Bunuel, David Lynch, and the last 20 minutes of 2001: A Space Odyssey really get mess with you. Pi is another.

Absolutely. I have a shelf of these sorts of films on DVD. Pi is up there.

Another of Darren Aronofsky's films, The Fountain fits the bill here too...

Also:

Being John Malkovich
I (heart) Huckabees
Dark City

David Cronenberg has made a few...

Naked Lunch
eXistenZ
Videodrome

...and of course Terry Gilliam has made a number of brain-frying movies...

Brazil
The Zero Theorem
12 Monkeys
The Fisher King
The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus

And more recently, throw in the movies of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead:

Resolution
The Endless
Synchronic
Spring
