I think he is a professor of herpitology now I think?I used to have the occasional king cobra and python venture into the back garden when I lived in the PI,always liked snakes.

He almost died from a king cobra bite, but forgave the snake. Said it was his own fault, which I can well believe.

But that said, he's a decent bloke by all accounts. I'm not sure how I haven't met him - in my early twenties I worked in a zoo, in part as a snake keeper.
