Lots of mention of various war films and so on in here. I wouldn't class anything set in the 20th Century as an historical film, even if it was based around historical events in the strictest sense of the word.

Things like Once Upon A Time In America - that's not historical.

For me...

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Or more 'factual', The Life of Brian.

Yeah, apparently the director has put another civil war film out " copperhead " but it's not an epic by the looks .
