Favourite gigs of the year.

apart from new model army at nottingham last friday and manchester the week before i enjoyed the stranglers at the city hall. i'm not a particular fan of theirs but the mrs is so i went along with her and thoroughly enjoyed them.

a few months ago we were in the algarve and went out for sunday dinner at a place called silves. there was a band on playing covers who were fantastic. might have been the setting but it was a bit surreal eating sunday dinner in the sun with a band playing 'shine on you crazy diamond' at the foot of a portuguese castle. best sunday dinner i've ever has as well.

Gary Numan at Newcastle City Hall.

Enjoyed it better than wembley tbh but the Northampton gig was brill, nice theatre ,had a box full of conservative people, we had them all up by end of the night and had a few beers with them afterwards.class.

Waiting for The Psychedelic Furs to come back to the UK and not miss Newcastle out this time!

Low at Manchester Cathedral

Your first 3 favourite gigs of the year match gigs I went to in 1980/81. UK Subs at the mayfair in 1980, and SLF (City Hall) and the stranglers in 81 ( the stranglers at the mayfair and the city hall) they played newcastle twice that year
I'm going to go for the same venue but the Afghan Whigs, lighting and acoustics are something else in the cathedral.

Posted on forthcoming gigs thread.

I had some belters.

Minami Deutsch at Cluny was probably my fave. pit Pony at Independent were nearly as good.
But self esteem at Wylam, W.H. Lung at Cobalt. Rudimental at Lindisfane, Eagles at Murray field, Tommy Lefroy at Gold Sounds in Leeds were some of the highlights.
So so many more cracking gigs. Hoping 2023 will be better.

Mick Head was superb Friday, Pavement were class (and waited so long to see them) but probably have to say seeing The Cribs doing their first 3 albums in full was the best.

Worst was also The Cribs like in Manchester when I got spiked on my birthday

We’ve only been to one. Tears For Fears at Newcastle Arena. They were promoting their new album The Tipping Point and as you do we knew all of the new songs.
It’s just a great feeling when you go to see someone whose stuff you know.
They were brilliant as they always are.

I got a freebie and was impressed as I’m not a huge fan. Also, Alison moyet was far better than I expected

You could do a lot worse than delve into their albums. Some class tracks they have behind them that they don’t do on stage anymore.
I may have a tears for fears day over the holidays. Listen chronologically. I like to do that with artists I haven’t heard for a while. God bless Spotify

I can recommend some tracks if you like. Good Luck but you won’t need it, they’re class.
