My cover version "The girl from Ford Estate" sadly never took off.

I always though she was 15 when those two old pervs wrote the song about her but on wiki it says she was 18! So maybe they were just old letches and not pervs. Still love the song though.

She was selected to sing the sing coz she could speak (and sing) English and was married to the writer iirc.

And she then went in to epitomise a particular style that was lyrical, gentle, stylish and evocative of the times.

She was lovely.
