I don’t get it either, why applaud supporting your own team. I think the last few years there’s been a move towards applauding all sorts of things at points in a match, it’s just got overkill imho, it’s like very self congratulating now. Applaud the team, their good play and be sporting to the opposition, other than that use your hands for eating pies, drinking bovril and making obscene gestures.
