False 9?

I really hate playing senior players out of position rather than giving young players a run in the side. I always have. It's one of my least favourite things about modern footballs switch to disposable coaches and long term directors where a team manager knows there's no benefit in spending a year improving a player.

So the recent call for Sunderland to play a false 9 in the media rather than persist with any of the 4 strikers we've signed has really got on my nerves. As a result I was really not happy with Mike Dodds starting lineup on Saturday.

However after actually watching the game, as everyone now knows, Jobe did not play as a false 9. Jobe played as a centre forward. He played really well as a centre forward (though tired towards the end which is understandable). I assume he will play the same position tonight.

How long does he have to play there before we start counting any goals he scores as centre forward goals?
When I saw the starting line up from the last game I thought TM was still in charge! 🤣 I'd like to see 2 strikers on the pitch give it a go false 9 crap at the end of the day why get strikers in if we are playing false 9s ?

We've got 4 false number 9

Hemir, not ready
Burstow, not good enough
Rusyn, more of a winger
Mayende, jury is still out

Only my opinion of course

Jobe looks the best option, and scored a typical poachers goal on Saturday, only for the blind officials to rule it out

Jobe is the best option to start, as things stand imho. Thought Dodds got it spot on tbh
I think Rusyn is the best option, he just hasn't got going yet.

The goals he scored against Rotherham were centre forward goals. 100%.

How are you getting 2 strikers on the pitch? What does that side look like?

Take a player off and bring another striker on ? In the world of football today you have plans with different formations depending on score line and team you are playing? Ahh forgot our old tactic was if we are getting beat or cannot break the opposition down and need goals we bring 3 subs on the back end of a game and hope something happens the last game we played the commentators and even Super Kev mentioned we are not clinical in front of goal and our strikers are not scoring er where was our strikers on the bench

He didn't look like he was playing up top to me, he was definitely playing a deep role similar to what he has all season when playing with a striker in front of him

Dunno what the big deal is Stewart himself used to drop into midfield and link up play all the time

Highlights ive seen of him he's more like a right footed left winger. Long term Clarke replacement imo
I don't think he's a winger, he's a forward. He's just not a natural lone striker.
