Hope everything goes smoothly for you. Public transport seems smooth but roadblocks set miles out - allows decent movement inside that but stories of 4 hour waits to get through them already.Have a great time!! That's why I would only do an F1 event on a bike as I can't quéHope everything goes smoothly for you. Public transport seems smooth but roadblocks set miles out - allows decent movement inside that but stories of 4 hour waits to get through them already.
I think the rules were very clear when he brake checked Lewis, when he drove on Lewis’ head and when he ran Lewis off the track at Brazil. However sporting integrity failed the FIA that season.A few issues with this.
Both Hamilton and verstappen had a season of trading paint. The rules were not clear enough, too much was down to the race directors discretion. Something which has now changed. I don't blame either of them (now) for any of the incidents, both were reckless at times, the implementation of the rules that season was a joke, but again not their fault.
F1 isn't about who is the best driver, I am sure you know this. It's about which team is the best. The driver is no more than a jokey on a race horse. And at this point in time max is on the fastest horse.
I would say all the drivers out there are brilliant, to be honest they have to be to get through all of the other formulas to reach F1, that does t happen by accident
Saying one driver is better than another is a fun way of expressing an opinion, but unfortunately can not be proved in any way, as said before by Jeff? It's even tricky to say it when they are team mates.
I do like max, but can see your point. I think he will walk away in a year or 2 , maybe be viewed in the same light as prost was? Not sure

By any account of FIA regulation, brake checking is an instant DSQ - but that doesn’t setup a finale with both drivers in equal points does it? Something that was commercially too valuable to the FIA to turn down.
And that’s not to mention the AD cheating fiasco.
I’m with the other guy - Max is fast but since his teammate isn’t allowed, nor remotely capable of challenging him, the only thing he’s proven so far is that once he’s put under pressure, he can be rattled and forced into both errors and malicious acts in an attempt to bully other drivers and cheat his way to a win.
Monza being the prime example of this - Lewis was only heading up the order and probably winning and he was backtracking with Bottas sure to catch him too - crashing into Lewis deliberately saved him a 10+ point loss that day. Whilst he didn’t deliberately crash into Lewis per se, he knew that if he put his car there Lewis couldn’t avoid without totally yielding and so he’d get his way either way. Not within the rules, but the FIA punishments are farcical at times - 5 place penalties in a two horse race are a joke, as are 10% aero deductions against major financial breaches. But that’s just the RB mindset of waying up benefit against punishment - not sporting but within the framework
We have booked train tickets to zandvoort from Amsterdam central, quickly dropping bags at hotel then heading through. Hopefully that doesnt end up too much of a choreHope everything goes smoothly for you. For me there’s two differences between this period (and the Schumacher era) and other ones.Welcome back
I can't highlight text, but,
"not sporting but within the framework"
I totally agree with this, and it's the same for all sport once cash comes in. All the top drivers are on our TV as they have done whatever it took to get there. And everyone of these teams will do the same to win. Just some do it better and then the rest whilst claiming "cheats" are thinking why didn't we do that.
Plus from the TV side , they didn't give a flying flip (excuse the swearing) who does what, they just want higher viewing figures. To get that they need a "good guy" to battle max s "bad guy" as no one wants to watch one person win everything by miles, so they will do something to improve the spectical.
When you and I started watching we accepted it was what it was and some teams would dominate for years as they built better cars and improvements were slow.
Now people want an instant fix, and what the people want, the people get.
With drive to survive , the storylines will turn it into WWE soon.
And I think as our previous discussions show we will never agree on that last bit.For me there’s two differences between this period (and the Schumacher era) and other ones.
1) The fact the teammate (Perez/Rubéns) aren’t allowed to challenge has killed the season stone dead. Sure that is within RBs prerogative but it definitely isn’t in the best interests of the sport. And tbh I barely see the point in even tuning in anymore - I follow it on the iPad with the football on at the same time, or playing on my games or whatever nowadays and not totally hooked to it at all. It’s just boring to watch. Sure the Hamilton and Vettel years weren’t great watches, but at least their teammate was never forbidden from challenging in the manner Perez is, and Rubéns was.
2) The cost cap cheating. I’m sorry but £2m overspend on an R&D budget of circa £8m (granted we only have other teams accounts, but RB won’t be massively different) is absolutely huge and definitely plays a massive part in the success they are having. No two ways about that. RB played the game and realised they’d get a minor punishment for a huge accumulation and made their decision, but in my head deliberately breaking the rules is cheating regardless. Ferraris engine thing was cheating too - they were also punished for it but doesn’t make it any less cheating. Mclarens spygate was cheating too - they were also punished for it but doesn’t make it any less cheating. So im not sure why RBs is being whitewashed so hard in this case. This is just typical RB approach to everything - you’re supposed to follow the rules, not make a case by case assessment of whether the punishment is worth the crime or not. Same as Max’s move at Monza 2021, or Brazil 2021. Same mindset. Same cheating.
Just an hour's practice in what looks like it will be changeable conditions on a flowing rhythm track. Good luck mateDanny Ric has broken his wrist!
Time for Liam Lawson to show what he can do… wonder how long a broken wrist would keep a driver out normally?

Assume De Vries will be chuckling into his chips & mayo.
