You're right. Seems unbelievable now that they used to design tyres specifically for each track. No wonder the costs were ridiculousIt was a unique set of circumstances. They had resurfaced the tarmac and put grooves in it like at spa. But the forces it exerted on the tyres led to failures. I think Ralf S crashed and the shambles was complete when the organisers wanted to install a chicane to slow drivers down in one corner and the FIA refused because the other tyres were fine and it was unfair on Bridgestone whose had supplied tyres fit for purpose.
Just an opinion, you can say the same for any driver that wins, it's 90% the car 10% the driver. There's no real way of judging driver against driver , apart from maybe team mates.Max is the better driver now ? He crashed into the pit wall exiting the pits the other week he’s proved nothing the last 2 season apart from being able to win in a dominant car
