F1 2022

When is the verdict or whatever you want to call it?
This is the FIA. I’d be amazed if we got a full thing today. I’m expecting them to say that the other 8 teams have their certificates and leave it at that for a fortnight tbh. The obvious inference being that RB is guilty but no official comment to confirm that, nor any punishment announced.

More chance of pigs flying than any significant punishments being dished out today.

Were the punishments for breaches even laid out in black and white when the cost cap was first agreed on by the teams a couple of years ago? I don't recall so.

The regulations just list all of the possible punishments, from a fine to exclusion from the championship. As much use as a chocolate fireguard tbh and yet again gives the governing body free reign to manipulate any decision to their own benefit

Fully expect all teams to be in budget . As much as I love Hamilton I would laugh if it was mercs after all there banged on about punishments

They crucially don't say which late afternoon, covering themselves in case they need to delay it for a few days/weeks/months/years.
one assumes some fia flunkies have to fly back from tokyo and won't land into paris till later today, to face the music (or lack of).

What's the score with Honda back in the fold with RB for the engine?
Can Honda spend a million quid improving the PU then sell it to RB for 50p?

The FIA taking saying the saying kicked into the long grass to utter extremes.

I presume after a long Parisian luncheon in 2065 after signing the south west Mars GP, sponsored by the 6th Saudi PIF.

What's the score with Honda back in the fold with RB for the engine?
from memory, honda at the road car board level decided they'd stop building cars with combustion engines in the next few years, and that F1 did not fit that model of car building - so dropped Red Bull in the lurch.

If i recall correctly, Red Bull purchased the IP for the honda engine, and hired a load of Merc staff to setup the RBP facility in Milton Keynes. In the meantime Honda Japan were still in the mix for 2020/2021 as the guy who ran the Honda engine department setup some kind of consultancy firm to act as a middleman between the UK & Japan.

At this point, the 2026 engine regs seem to have changed things. As a new entry in 2026 you get extra dev tokens (?), to encourage VAG to join the party and avoid years in the doldrums ala Honda & their GP2 engine. So the RBP "engine" which has actually fired up won't now break cover till 2026 (lord knows what badge will be on it by that point!).

As i understand it, the current engines are frozen till 2026 so Honda have to do very little between now & then? I'm guessing someone in Japan has woken up to the fact that they're missing out on a shit ton of positive PR?

But i could be wrong, its all a bit unclear.
