Ackowledged, but then look at Grosjean in 2020.

His hands were the only part of his body which weren't fully protected due to the glove spec at the time. How different would it have been if he'd had multiple rings on his fingers (or even a calamity hip hop chain around his neck).

These are fine margins for professionals right on the limit and the rules are there for a reason.

What should they be wearing ?

1. Fire proof duds and balaclava
2. Top quality overalls and gloves
3. Helmet

Anything else in unnecessary

That analogy is really poor.
But actually highlights the drivers who wish to wear a religious necklace or their wedding ring while putting their life on the line.
What do you say to them when soldiers would not be told to remove them.
