F1 2022

Karma! Karma! Karma!

Hamilton's face at the end was a picture. He looked happier than when he wins!

I missed the start but what I did see of the cars was a really strange mix.

Clearly the two quickest cars occupied the top places with a few laps to go but fate played a cruel hand/fair hand [delete as appropriate].

The close racing is there but the car handling looks dull. There doesn't appear to be much snap to them and at times I thought I could have been watching a GP2 race - the Bahrain track probably doesn't help.

Brawn was on just now saying it was a good start and made a point of emphasising the close racing improvement.

Perhaps unsurprisingly he didn't mention the other things.

Here's hoping it's a good base to build on so I'm looking forward to seeing the cars on a classic track

I felt it quite ironic in the first race back that we got to see how a safety car restart should be handled with ALL lapped cars passing through and the safety car going in at the end of the next lap.

It is noticebly different at lower speeds. Overall though, I was happy with the racing action we seemed to get as a result of the new regs. They can definitely follow closer than before.

In the coming weeks we'll hopefully see some of those teams who have seemingly got the regs wrong, start to close the gap. Which will result in even more wheel to wheel racing.
