Shit. If I had the kind of money Tom Cruise has, do you not think I'd have bought the team many, many years ago? My ultimate dream, mate!

Here 'tis:

Did you actually meet Jodie Foster then?

I'm sure you've been asked 1,000,000 times before but I can't remember - how did you come to follow SAFC? Was it like trying to fulfill some deep emotional need by adopting the sickest, mangiest mongrel at the pound?? Or was it the red bum flaps?

I did. Very briefly. She was very quiet, very private. But I got a nice load of swag when I finished that job and a lovely signed card from her.

I started following Sunderland the same year SKP won the Golden Boot. A friend of mine was a Chelsea supporter and he and I were both employed intermittently and we started watching matches -- he suggested I pick a team of my own. I read up and liked Sunderland. Totally random really. Doesn't matter now. No going back.

TBH I'm seriously considering my next tattoo being something Sunderland-related.

Did she seem like a lesbian?

Living this side of the pond, I have to say I love that story mate.

To a large extent, us lads from the NE of England are born with the affliction that we know as Sunderland AFC and there's no choice involved.

I doff my cap Sir.

Erm. Well, her wife/partner was there at the time to throw her an on-set birthday do. So I guess so, yes.

Balls.

This.

What'd ye expect? ;)

Aw, no worries. It's made my life more interesting; I've experienced some wonderful moments (Poominator, SKP and Quinny, Edwards at Burnley -- just to name a few) and experienced some terrible ones as well; and I feel like I made absolutely the right decision. Sunderland are a very, very special club -- as evidenced by the people who run it and own it and play for it -- and have some really great people supporting it. Wouldn't change it for the world.

As a Sunderland supporter, every hope and dream to be cruelly dashed.

Whenever asked about the perfect woman, I'd always say Jodie Foster - beautiful, intelligent, successful, sensible. Therefore, it was inevitable she'd be a dyke!

The good news for me is that snow has taken down my direct tv satellite dish, so i hope it stays on espn3 so i can stream it through my xbox.

Otherwise I'm resigned to fss.

I have a similar story here. Got the little MS-DOS game one-nil (great game!) and picked a lower level team to manage so I could try getting the team up to the PL. The team, you guessed it, Sunderland. I picked them because they were the only team in the 3rd tier with a big stadium and a big support. After some experimentation I succeeded in geting Sunderland promoted 2 years in a row. I decided to learn a bit about the real club and to my suprise, Sunderland had just recently made a similar two league jump to the PL! So I started following the team as best I could in the US, (sometimes only match reports on the web- but usually with Phillips, Quinn, Phillips in the scoreline) and it has been LOVE ever since. It's true, there's no going back!
:)

Now I get to watch almost every game thanks to Fox Soccer, Fox Soccer plus, and ESPN. :-D I would get so upset the last 2 years under Roy and Ricky that I had to tape the games and only watch if the lads won or drew, because I was getting debilitating heartburn watching live. Thankfully I can now watch live without too much trouble now, because we are plaing a brand of football which doesn't give me ulcers (Except for on black day this year- you know the one:eek:) I usually have no voice after the game, wether we, win , lose, or draw (bloody refs!) I love Sunderland!!!!!!!! FTM!!!!

Unfortunately I probably will miss tomorrows game cause I'll be at work and won't be able to watch it streaming ot DVR it. I think we will nick it 2-1 !

H'way the lads!

Any mackems living in the US that also have an xbox 360 can watch it on ESPN (as long as you have xbox live) not seen anything about it being on anything other than espn3 otherwise.

San Jose, Cheers! Maybe we should start a bay area Sunderland supporters Association? :)

Definitely need to get together for some beers and a game or two mate.

Certainly up for a supporters group, BUT I'm not sure I want to be known as Bay Area Sunderland Supporters Association (BASSA sounds to much like bazza!!!!!) :)

I like your story as to how you got into SAFC.

BASSA! LOL Sounds like me yelling at the refs.

Thanks. ...... and yes, well have to do that sometime. But as you can possibly tell from my post I'm pretty intense, so it would be better for us to make sure it's a meaningless game, hopefully after we've salted away a top 6 finish. :)

In that case we can pick any game mate because as my other half and my neighbours will contend, I have a bit of a Sunderland passion too. Plus, there are NO meaningless games, but I knew what you meant; some like the return Derby count for a bit more for obvious reasons.

PM me with your my email address and we'll organize a game :)

f***ing brilliant this. Free accommodation for all the lads all over the west coast. Get the cases packed
