80% of the dosh goes to bloody farming subsidies..

translates as.. I'm a greek with half a dozen olive trees that make bugger all money.. give me 5 grand a year so I can sit and paly backgammon and drink ouzo for 11 months fo the year

I wonder if they'll ever get to a stage where the budget is cut?

Thought not.

You don't need to be in the EU to trade with Europe and the sooner we are out of the EU the better.

I thought you were a Lib Dem & so should love all things Europe?

The bigger the budget the bigger the euro MP's "fiddle"! Outside of organised crime it sounds like the most corrupt organisation in existance.

How the fuck can an organisation which keeps having its accounts being refused to be signed off ask for more? We need to fuck the whole shit pit off. If we started something new off with the krauts (peacefully and diplomatically as we wil be funding it initially), we could control the whole of Europe and make it a better place for all. We could use the strengths of each nation to Europes advantage and make it a true world player.

I never understand what this 'world player' thing is supposed to mean.

People say we have to be in the EU if we want to be a world player.

The only sense in which being a world player would seem to be important is militarily, and that has nothing to do with the EU.

I suppose the UK is also a world player in global finance and science and education, though we are losing ground fast in the last two. But I don't see why the EU is necessary or helps in either of these.

People also seem under the impression that you can't trade with the EU countries if you're not in the EU. Well thats nonsense too. We do plenty of trade with non EU countries already.

Of course we don't make much of anything in this country anyway, so you could even argue if it became more difficult to buy from within the EU it might encourage more production at home, though as I say it's nonsense to say you have to be in the eu to trade with it anyway.

A world player being we can manufacture, we can service , we can utilise our resources on the world stage. If we have to subsidise one area to compete on the world stage so be it. The others can compensate. This doesn't mean that we cut off all trade with the rest of the world but it allows Europe to compete on an even footing with the so called emerging nations, which are effectively built on slave labour.
