Extinction Rebellion

If anything meaningful is to be achieved, they need to heap the pressure on the Chinas, Indias, and Brazils of this world. Only way I can see this happenening is through refusing to buy their products. Not sure how many of the protesters would be keen on that, but it's got to be more effective than bullying people selling meat in London markets.

If we're wanting to reduce emissions urgently, it's going to have big economic consequences, and we've already seen in the referendum fall out that the "youth" and "elites" value a couple of percent growth to GDP over all else.

Related and interesting:

There is a firm in the states that is trying to reduce the carbon footprint of concrete and cement. It says that it's product is in the testing phase and could reduce co2 from concrete/cement production by upto 60% whilst using less water as well. Concrete/cement production is responsible for 8% of the total CO2 output per year globally.

Looking at their demands,

Number 1 - Tell the truth, we have this already, our government don't deny climate change, our government don't deny it's man mande, our government is signed up to the Paris protocol which aims for net zero carbon emissions by 2050

Number 2 - Act Now, Net Zero emissions by 2025. This is impossible, however net zero emissions by 2030 is a possibility and something they should lobby for. Their activists should put pressure on MP's to pass the Green New Deal already proposed by parliament which achieves this.

Number 3 - Beyond Politics, Government must create and be led by a citizens assembley on this, never gonna happen, don't know why you'd bother trying.

The bill is what they should put their focus on.

I reckon if we're going to reduce carbon it'll come from technological solutions. Which needs to involve nuclear power.

Morgan tore one of the founders a new one, she came to the studio in in a chauffeured car, admits she drives everywhere and when asked what she was doing to reduce her carbon foot print said its not down to her................

Must be great being able to stamp your feet and have your parents/the state, do what you want.
