Excellently article arguing the case for the Deadly Duo to get Sunderland job

It was a really good informative article, but if things go wrong he won't get the leeway with the fans, a bigger more attractive name would. I would be underwhelmed but would support him fully if he got it
Did you support Parkinson fully when you were underwhelmed?

It's a bizarre opinion piece. 12 reasons but some of them are flimsy.

"Cowley is the right man to utilise Sanderson" . No evidence for it at all.

"Leadbitter will have to fight for his place." Well actually, he's been our best midfielder by a distance this season so why is that such a good thing?

"knowledge of the market" and "know how to manage a club as well as a team". Great, they'd have been useful in previous years. Now we're progressing with a Sporting Director so are they prepared to just manage the team and not the club?

Then about another 3/4 of them are trying to convince in different ways that he's not a long ball manager yet I still leave the article with the impression that he is. Bizarrely, this is a trait I'm not against. There's a lot of Sunderland fans who would like to see a direct team who are physical. It wouldn't be my preference but I think it's something most fans would get behind.

We've got this now & it's not working. Wyke give a free kick away 70% of the time when the ball gets to him. Graham is playing on ice. O'Brien hasn't worked. I think the direct style needs tweaking with kimpioka & curry using pace to run in run in behind.

IMO I would give the Cowley's a chance before poyet & keane or any other manager we've already had.

There's certainly no magic formula or manager who is guaranteed to be a success, so it's just a case of pick what you like.

These 2 don't fit the new structure for me and they don't seem to be for anything. The only argument seems to be "they win". Now don't get me wrong, that's a f***ing brilliant argument, my issue is that there will come a time when they don't, just like any other manager. When that time comes and they walk away, have we spent 2-3 years rebuilding a club, developing youth and bring an academy up playing a particular style or have we just gone for instant success which will probably lead us to being a midtable Championship club who needs another rebuild and has a load of players to unloaded again.

I think there are people out there who fit both the short term and long term models, who will play a more attractive style of football and will work better with a Sporting Director.

Then ill go with you Flash.

I was just of the mindset that the article states they are able to change tactics to suit players, that to me shows adaptability that is required when someone else is buying players. Obviously, they would need to be on board with a long term mindset (were talking about it like its about to happen).

He turned down the job of Head coach at Huddersfield Town, only accepting when he was offered the position of manager. For that reason alone, he's completely the wrong choice. He wants to be hands on everything.

But that's yet another plus point in my book. I want a managerial team in charge of everything. We've had the disaster of D.O.F. with De Fanti and Congerton.

We've had the disaster of managers with every manager. Writing off the DOF position based on bad appointments is as daft as saying let's never have a manager again because of the last 5.

It's irrelevant though, as all evidence points to us going down the Sporting Director route under new ownership. So if that is true, it wouldn't make sense to appoint someone who doesn't fit with that approach.

It would make even more sense to employ the sporting director first then let them be involved in appointing the first team manager

I think there's a presumption that some of that is going on behind the scenes but can't be finalised until the takeover is. I've no idea if that's accurate though or just speculation.

Some interesting stuff in there but what a ridiculous statement this is...

"Danny was recently on Soccer AM coaching random supporters and it felt as though he was improving their games in well co-ordinated, two-minute training sessions – so surely he can get loads out of professionals who have played at the top level."

It’s not the only one. The integrity of the ‘article’ is questionable.

The Cowley sistas......just 2 cardigans for the price of Juan pour moi....

More hands in pockets and deep thinkas....not sure them boys will hev us on wa way Vauxo.....
This is the Juan with vision then?
Agree, not seeing a magic carpet or a bus with these gadgies cochise

The Huddersfield job would be a red flag for me as they were dealing with highly paid players and the egos that brings.

And as it stands Lincoln and Huddersfield are above us in league standings so we as supporters should really get over this 'we're too big for them' mentality and take a few reality pills because until we accept that we're as shit as our league position suggests we'll always be stick in this rut.

I'm not arguing Huddersfield are bigger/better than us at the minute, however, like us they have players who evidently feel they are better than they are. I wouldn't have thought that would be the case at Lincoln.
We've got a lot of players who have played at a higher level and are known to have by far the biggest wage bill. For me, that could be the problem rather than the Cowleys' merits.
