Ex-players offering their congratulations

Seen quite a few from players, including many I'd forgotten about. Kenwyne Jones, David Meyler, and even Dion Sanderson have all been tweeting.

The silence from Defoe is deafening though.
Defoe said he was coming to help get us over the line, and in a small way he did. He got us excited to be Sunderland fans again in the week after our worst ever result. He gave us a distraction for the few weeks while Neil was getting us going. He took a little pressure off Stewart when Broadhead was injured. And his presence on the field created a few of the goals we needed at key times. It didn’t work out in the end, but I’d have one Defoe over a hundred Griggs.

Aye seen Defoe has put summit on Instagram about rangers but not us

Up there with Phillips posing like an excited child next to the shearer statue

I'd rather have Grigg given he has actually contributed more. That's Grigg vs League One Defoe who couldn't be arsed. Defoe added to the pressure on Stewart.
