how can you say that? at the moment he's taking us down, he hasnt got years he's got months...and with no signs of improvement well.....

If you were capable of understanding it, you wouldn't have to resort to making up shit on Twitter and pretending to be a former millionaire professional footballer to seek the attention to validates your ego.

Yep, spot on.

I honestly can't believe I'm seeing so many posters turning on a manager after just a year, quite unbelievable really.

2 wins in 20 against 10 men...no win against 11 men since march.....summer transfer window.....same points at this stage last season

now surely you can see why people are turning?

yes bruce had almost 3 years however the sacking wasnt based on all of the years it was based on simply spending a lot of money on players and under performing... much like MON

Drama queen.

Marty will turn things around.

I hope you are right not for his sake for the club's, however 4 wins from 27 games 3 of which were against 10 men tells it's own story this coupled with the fact of the horrific football we are watching, playing players out of position and worst of all picking players week in and week out who have been simply woeful leads me to believe he won't be able to turn it round unless Short gives him a big wedge to spend in January.

Not sure it had the impact many would like history to record it did. After all, the likes of Oldham, Wimbledon, Sheffield Wednesday, Luton, Ipswich, Palace, Sheffield Utd, and QPR were founder members and it didn't exactly give them an automatic advantage.

On the otherhand we could be as well established as clubs like Everton, Spurs. I am sure we would have enjoyed the success and good football enjoyed by QPRand Sheff Wedd instead of punching our weight with Grimsby, Luton and Southend. Can't really say I look back fondly on those days.

We also played a lot better under Bruce.

oozes jealousy...clearly still touching a nerve over my comments about your beloved roker report

Not at the end, for the last few months it was that long hopeful hoof from Gordon to Elmo, over and over and over again. Not that I'm saying this is good, but Bruce wasn't playing a lot better, that's why he got the boot.

Marra, if I wanted to make up rumours to spread and pretend to be a millionaire ex-footballer, I could. What should I be jealous about?

In the real world, progress is based on constructive criticism. Nobody should be above it.

I can't think of one poster saying 'he's shit, I never liked him, get rid'. Most have identified perfectly valid areas of improvement. Almost everyone wants him and not a new manager to sort it out.

There's no gleeful ripping to shreds here. Unlike other posters and previous managers......

Inevitable. Beats pointing to the shambles on the pitch.

How many times do I need to explain this to you, please read this very carefully. Bruce had 2 and half year at it, O'Neill has had one year. I would never ever contemplate sacking a manager after a year, never have, never will.

Nevertheless, you were happily wailing away after two games of a season calling for the head of a Sunderland manager. You're now attempting to justify that behaviour by taking every piece of criticism aimed at the current manager and attempting to interpret it as wanting him out. You were quite happy to have a go at a previous manager because you didn't like him, and now unhappy because others are rightly criticising them man you've nailed your colours to the mast for. You're a bloody hypocrite and should call the performance of the team this season as it is, not skewed by desperation to save face.

Yes, he's Martin O'Neill. He is currently doing a very poor job. I would like him to do a better job and sincerely hope he does improve. I know what I want to see him do and state it frequently. It's very different from the excited knife sharpening that you and your ilk were engaging in.

To be fair, Everton and Spurs were part of the 'big five' who rallied for the Premier League and ensured it happened. We were never in that position.

Though I agree that the early 90s was a horrible time to follow the lads. People think now is bad, but when I look back on those days my memories are not even in black and white. That would at least denote some vintage. They are in just drab washed out tired colour. Grim.

It was still better than this. The derby defeat last year we played shit but it was still better than the derby performance this year. Even the defeat against Wigan i'm sure we had tons of chances.

I don't know if I'd say it was better, it was just a different kind of bad.

As I said yesterday I'm worried but willing to give him time to turn it around.

There are hardly any positives at the moment though :-(

Isn't there just. Amazingly, seeing many of the same names who were happy enough to defend Bruce to the hilt absolutely tearing MON to bits. Christ, at least I am consistent! Manager's need a couple of years before they can be fairly judged. Bruce had that. MON should get it too.

Fair post.

That's what I want too. For MON to have the chance to turn it round. Sacking someone after a year smacks of lunacy and desperation.

I've lost count of times over the years the national phone-ins were inundated with crying Toffee fans claiming Moyes had taken the club as far as he could and it was time for change.

For the record I'm still firmly behind O'Neill, that doesn't mean I can be tarred with the "happy clapper" brush and accused of thinking everything's rosy at this moment in time, It's not.
I do have belief he's the one to finally drag this club off it's arse and make it a fixture in the top half of the league on a regular basis.

Here here.
