Why?

This is the SPECIAL NEEDS BOARD.

At times they totally f***ing battered us man!

Their midfield completely ran the show; they didn't even need a forward line. I haven't a clue why you keep blurting out this posession/chances-stats-crap; anyone who was at the game could clearly see which team posed the greater threat. You need an eye test.

We did well to come away with a point.

I've only read the first 2 pages but why has noone pointed out that for our second, Richardson was blatantly offside? We cleared 2 off the line and their passing and movement was excellent. A point was the very most we deserved.

This.

Mind, we had two gilt-edged chances that the Ref decided to pull back for a freekick rather than let play carry on.

Not sure what SHITEALLNIGHT is banging on about like.

I am being told that Everton dominated us but when I ask the question how did they dominate us nobody can tell me.

they had a lot of the ball around our box which made our players and crowd edgy. Is that explanation enough for you or do you want crayons and diagrams again?

That does not equtate to Everton dominating us. Have you thought for one second we might have been happy to try and hold on to the lead not us being dominated but us deciding that what we have we will try to hold.

They outplayed us, but they're still having a poor season. They've a good midfield, but have nothing up front, and their defence is poor too, but we didnt have a go at them once we got a goal up

Poor season  They are having their usual shitty start to a season that all they if will if they keep their key players fit and start putting there chances away finish top 8 again this season

Just thinking you started a thread about who would go down this season after about 3 games and suggested them

they dominated us, our midfield were camped on our own six yard box, Bruce was in the technical area urging his team to push out and get closer to them. Arteta had so much time on the ball to pick his passes out and both their full backs got beyond their wide men to overload us on the wings. We were dominated, especially in the last 20 minutes, but we got a point which in my view was a fair result

In your opinion they dominated us the stats prove you wrong but hey why let the facts cloud the issue.

I'm fairly sure I could select some stats to show that the derby on Oct31st was close, but it wasn't. Just accept that Everton are a decent team and dominated the midfield in the last half hour of the game

No you can't:

Newcastle goals 5

Sunderland goals 1

That stat alone proves it wasn't close.

the operative word was select . Stats don't prove everything in a game; and Everton dominated the last part of monday night

It's noticeable that those saying Everton dominated can't come up with one stat, one fact or one single tangible peice of evidence to back up their opinion.

apart from the fact that they had most of the ball in the last 30 minutes and we had 10 men in our penalty area just kicking it anywhere?

or is that not a fact if you don't agree with it??

Even if that is true the game lasts 90 minutes. ;)

over the whole 90 minutes, Everton probably did dominate midfield - hence Henderson and Zenden being replaced. If we'd been dominating that area of the pitch then do you think a 20 year old recent England cap would have been taken off??

Just accept, Everton are a good team and will finish within 4 or 5 points of us either way come May

If Everton dominated why did they not have a lot more possession than us?

cos possesion itself isn't the be all and end all of a game; it's how you use the ball and where you have it. IIRC Chelsea had more possesion than us; did they dominate us??

Barcelona domiated Almeria on Saturday they had over 75% possession and scored 8 goals without reply.

Those two stats, alone or together, are fair indicators that Barca dominated.

In our game possession was roughly 50-50

Chances 10 each

Goals 2 each

How did they dominate us?
