Well fuck me I must be wrong if I'm agreeing with you because I'd say Sigurdsson is clearly in De Gea's view when the ball is deflected. Tihs is the important bit in the OR section quoted further down this post. Is this the reason why VAR must now see Sigurdsson 'offside' as it affects De Gea's reaction time due to not having the full view of the path of the ball. Just because De Gea possibly won't save it shouldn't matter should it?

:edit: I see this rule regarding a deflection off an opponent in the FA Rules is probably why it was ruled out. It's not when the shot was taken but it's probably due to the fact Sigurdsson was interferring with De Gea's line of vision at the point of the deflection, regardless of whether De Gea would have saved it or not doesn't matter. I've highlighted the parts of the rules I think come into play due to the line of vision at the time of the deflection.
Offside offence
A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:
- interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or
- interfering with an opponent by:
- preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or
- challenging an opponent for the ball or
- clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or
- making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball
*The first point of contact of the 'play' or 'touch' of the ball should be used
or
- gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has:
- rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent

Haven’t won a trophy for 25 year. It’s absolutely killing them watching Liverpool set records.Everton fans seriously believe they are a big club.Virtually unknown in Europe.
Think people are missing why he was on the ground wiped out by Wan Bissaka or whatever hes called no penalty given
The one where he was tackled after he'd already had the shot saved you mean?
Is he fouled? Just because hes taken the shot doesn't mean the player can just plough through himThe one where he was tackled after he'd already had the shot saved you mean?
No mate you’re wrong it’s all one big conspiracy designed to ensure Everton never ever win anything!Sigurdsson effectively dummies the ball. It's rolling towards him, about to hit him then he pulls his legs out the way to let the ball go past where it would previously have stopped.
Not sure how you can not see interference in that situation. He's literally in the middle of the play.
Again, look at Maguire's right foot on that first slowed down image, he attempts to play the ball and clear it. However it hits his heel and goes in.
For me, that isn't a deflection, he has attempted to play the ball and fucked up therefore playing Sigurdsson onside.
