He's on the floor. Irrelevant. He's in front of the keeper.

It doesnt touch him. Irrelevant. He's in front of the keeper.

It's going in regardless. I'm not so sure. The keeper moves to the right because a player is in front of him.

Disagree with the rules all you want. That's the rules and the therefore the rules that are applied.

It was an easy decision marra.

De Gea had eyes on Calvert Lewin throughout the whole shot watch the replay or better plenty of still images of the goal on social media.

The deflection ultimately wrong footed De Gea - Sigurdsson on the floor had nothing to do with that goal if anything he moves out the way of it to prevent an offside.

What happens if Siggurdsson got caught on the follow through (as he did from Wan Bissaka) and was laid out holding his leg infront of De Gea - if a penalty isnt given yet we score a goal then hows that our fault if Siggurdsson is down on the ground?!

As I've said I get the FA's reasoning but its not clear cut as the cause = effect isnt there.

Siggurdsson touching the ball or stood offside right infront of De Gea yes 100% you have a case- but a 6 foot odd bloke unable to see past someone on the ground?

Pull the other one - thats where common sense officating comes into it - but there isnt as VAR is used to the letter of the law - it doesnt allow refs to judge each individual case on merit which is why fans are so annoyed.

It was meant to be brought in to aid in stonewall "clear and obvious" offsides/penalties/red card challenges being given or not given correctly - that today as many other cases this season wasn't clear and obvious.
Could have been a penalty for the tackle on Sigurdsson

My point is if Siggurdsson is on the ground from that challenge hurt and no pen is given - we are then denied both a penalty and goal because he's laid out on the ground.

There has to be common sense officiating and there isnt.

After everyone in the ground had watched the big screen which clearly showed why the goal was correctly not given the thick scouse mags started shouting and telling the screen to fuck off 😁😁😁😁

I agree on this the majority wouldn’t. The point is fans in the main aren’t the most objective of creatures.
I will always call it as I see it regardless of my allegiance and I’ll always try to back it up.

He's on the floor, doesnt touch the ball & and its going in with or without him being there - its not the same as say the ball unintentionally hitting his hand into his path to score from as the cause = effect is there whereas in this case it isnt.

Rule or no rule its a farce and isnt football marra thats my point.
Are you just blatantly ignoring the deflection part of the offside rule again or just ignorant and can't quote grasp what exactly happened?

Again ignoring the defelection part of the offside rule and going back to DCL so yes you are that ignorant and can't grasp what happened! Sigurdsson was clearly in De Gea's line of vision when the ball was deflected and therefore is classed as 'interfering with play' at that moment in time, not when DCL hits the shot, it's as clear and obvious as that! There's nowt in the rules that say "use common sense if the keeper possibly isn't going to save it"

Should have been a penna for me but even better that is wasn't just to wind everblue86 up a bit more :lol:

Yup. As soon as I saw the first replay I knew it was getting ruled out. Had it not been would mean the rules were not applied.

We wouldn’t be telling it to fuck off and embarrassing ourselves.

Aye of course not...

So you admit we were screwed then - thank you.

Bitter?

Too right we have been robbed blind by the officials all season.

1. Had 2 VAR reviewed decisions go against us and later resulting in the FA apologising to us as they were "incorrect"

2. Not had a single penalty awarded all season despite a few stonewall ones

3. Had players given soft sendings off yet had the likes of TAA and Robertson stamp all over us in the derby without so much as a booking

And now today its infuriating when as a fan you just want some consistency and common sense.

Please cite these examples of stone wallers with replays. I’m sure the Sunderland fans on here will, on the whole, be a whole lot more impartiaL than you are and are a much better judge of the decision

For me the biggest issue of that is that they have deemed it a deflection off Maguire.

Watch his right foot, he turns it in a deliberate attempt to play the ball and fucks it up with it clipping off his heel. That motion itself makes the position of Sigurdsson irrelevant.

I couldn't care less tbh so no I'll decline thanks.

I reckon De Gea might have saved it if Sigurdsson's not there. If he sees the deflection he has enough time to react to it.
Pickford should be saving that mind

He should have gone with one hand. Too many keepers now think about making the perfect save and pushing it out of danger instead of just keeping it out of the net.
