No you're right, what we should have is a squad filled with 10m pound CBs just in case - 6 28-year old CBs on 50k a week, just in case. Fuck every other position, FFP and the transfer and wage budgets.

I'm talking about as an emergency, 5th or 6th in line.
Is that what we've got like? We've got 4 CB's, O'Shea, Kone, Kaboul and Djilibodji. The other lads are predominantly midfielders, that being McNair/ Kirchoff etc

1. No sign in anything decent ( quality press ) of even an official approach for him, never mind being sold. That's why it says probably.
2. If we sell for 18m after paying 5m, I make that a 'quick 13m profit' Lorient have a 20-25% sell on
3. Your ramble through our Cb's doesn't make any sense whatsoever, but tbf every team in the bottom half of the premier could qualify as having at least 8 players per team who've played CB in the past 8 years. How many of those centre backs have we sat back and said "champion thats the defence sorted for a few seasons"? Also see left back which we're all tentatively hoping PVAs good form holds up.

So we could do the deal but the mags couldn't yet many say we stuff around etcetc.
Turn up for the books

Isn't that what all of our managers are hired in part to do? Moyes wouldn't be the first to sign a bag load of shite. I hope he pulls off some good deals, my frustration is 'cos of the state of our squad two days before kick off, when the supposed plan all along had been to get off to a decent start this year and not be playing catch up after 8- 10 games, again!

If we started a game in the premier league with Love, Rodwell and maybe even McNair starting there, we may as well forfeit the game.

Exactly. You could even add JoS to that list.

Is McNair a midfielder? I know he can/has played there but I thought he was predominantly a centre back.
We are probably going to need 2/3 players who can cover a couple of positions. Someone like McNair is ideal to have around the squad if he can do that to a decent level.

Apparently so, I associated him with being a right back mainly but from what I have read he is predominantly a midfielder.

Wasn't it being reported earlier that Everton definitely wanted it done by today? Looks like they are running out of time.

Maybe Kone is going nowhere then.

We have accepted a bid though and he is waiting in a hotel with the pen in his hand. Or he is currently at Whitburn training

Daft twat was probably bluffing all along to get a pay hike and has now burned his bridges. I can't imagine the likes of Cattermole or JOS taking too kindly to his lack of loyalty.

Caulkin reckons some sort of delay. He's normally pretty good isn't he?

Unexpected delay in Kone's move from #Safc means #Efc now likely to keep Galloway for this weekend. #Nufc hopeful done start of next week

This shit is taking the shine off start of the season more than lack of signings for me. Just stay or go but stop using the media and letting your agent manipulate you with pictures of Everton fans and videos with kids

No, basically the papers said he was on Merseyside in antic of a deal, later on a lad called aidy posted a photo of him with kone on twitter,he tweeted it to someone called Mackay95, an Everton fan page then posted it saying Kone was in a Liverpool hotel, when asked about it this aidy said it was that night and in a restaurant in Liverpool. The papers and SSN ran with it.

If we had accepted the bid and his agent was as keen as he sounds for him to go to Everton he would be there by now
