What are the chances that FIFA will roll over for a few quid? They surely don't have as much to lose as UEFA. If they allowed players to play in World Cup, that would remove a huge barrier from any players in two minds about it.

FIFA, UEFA and the FA and the FAPL can kill this dead just by enforcing their rules and not allowing any of these teams or their players to play in any FIFA/UEFA/FA competitions.

The rest of us can then get on with our football and watch those "Super League" teams die.

Ironically, the Premier League which was formed as a breakaway group by greedy clubs is the organisation which stands to suffer most from it.
If they don’t take drastic action they will die a slow death.
im not saying the ESL will, that’ll thrive eventually. The PL will be a shadow of its former self

Hmm. I see.

what a mess.
I was suggesting a possible way of how they could format a "league" that has 36 clubs who only play as little as 9 matches...

I was NOT confirming the set up that these Jokers would be using. With UEFA, it will be the format that brings them the most money in, in the quickest way.

The TV deal would be much smaller imo. But would that really matter? Some clubs would have serious problems in the Premier League, but they're spending beyond their means anyway. The rest of us don't get any real TV money anyway. The league would have to rely on gate receipts much more again.

The TV deal would be smaller, but it might also give them a bit more freedom. As I posted earlier, I’d award the BBC/ITV Saturday night football and ensure the top games are free to air and shown at prime time.

I’d also ensure that the PL undercuts the ESL on ticket prices and open talks with the SFA on a joint cup competition

Anti-competitive agreements (Chapter I / Article 101)

Both UK and EU competition law prohibit agreements, arrangements and concerted business practices which appreciably prevent, restrict or distort competition, or where this is the intended result, and which affect or may affect trade within the UK or the EU respectively.

That’s a very good point indeed.

break up the cartel

of course you could never support or love another club they way you do with your current club, but i've watched enough non-league over the years to know i could thoroughly enjoy going to there every saturday instead. probably ryhope or shields, maybe spennymoor for big days out.

Fantastic suggestions. Obviously, I feel for fans of those clubs who have been sold out by their owners, but I actually think this might end up in a better situation for the other 86 league clubs and non-league teams as well.

Might as well do it then. Fuck them. Send them on their way. A new revamped PL would be massively appealing to me. I haven’t watched it for years. The whole circus that surrounds it bores me. Preferring to finish 4th over winning a trophy? No thanks! Let’s take it back. Leeds, Villa, Everton, West Ham, Leicester, Wolves, The Mags, clubs down the divisions, Us, Forest, Derby. Let’s be able to dream again. This ‘elite’ 12 can sit and count their money and compare balance sheets while the rest of us get on with proper competition.
It would to me as well, but it wouldn't be internationally and that's where a lot of the money comes from. Does that matter? I don't know - a lot of that money does filter down in one way or another.

This. No concessions, nowt. If you want your super league then you're not in any fifa, uefa or fa competitions. See how quickly their arse drops. Its blackmail, and everyone knows you don't give in to blackmailers because all that will happen is they'll come back to take more and more. This has to be when the whole of football says enough.

This. Its an extra load of games. How long before the English teams struggle as the PL is relentless and want it reduced to 18 teams, want the League Cup scrapped and want to put a 2nd string out for the FA Cup?

The likes of Man United, Chelsea, and Liverpool have very deliberately cultivated huge followings abroad - everywhere from North America, the Far East, India.

They’ve used the revenue from the resulting commercial deals to help them turn the top of the Premier League into something approaching a closed shop.

These massive and increasingly affluent elements of their supporter base might be all in favour as far as I know- in fact I expect they probably are.

Are their views worth any less than those of the plastic scousers and man United fans around the country?

Think I’m more than happy to let them all fuck off tbh

Interesting comments from an unnamed board member of 1 of the 6. Apparently owners want less football. Not arsed if footballers are banned from International football. Super League will take precedence over the premier league, Increasing income is the number 1 aim

Flicking through the various forums, it seems to get more support, albeit limited, on the Liverpool forum.

How would you seriously react if this proposal goes through? Change teams? Protest, but go to matches?
I’m not sure myself, to be honest.
I'd be disgusted whichever team was part of the breakaway. I would almost certainly stop going to matches and wouldn't pay to view either. If Sunderland was one of the six teams, my heart would be broken at this treachery towards one of the founding father clubs of fair, equal opportunities football.
