This. No concessions, nowt. If you want your super league then you're not in any fifa, uefa or fa competitions. See how quickly their arse drops. Its blackmail, and everyone knows you don't give in to blackmailers because all that will happen is they'll come back to take more and more. This has to be when the whole of football says enough.

Perhaps you would get international sides setup outside of UEFA/FIFA. If England, Spain, Italy and few other countries setup their own Euro/World Championship then guess where the TV and sponsorship money would go.

1. The ESL will be happy to see players banned from international football

2. Revenue and profit is the primary concern, the good of the game comes second

3. Some of the 14 are calling for them to be suspended from the PL with immediate effect.

It goes on.
Like oil companies and the enviroment. Money, Money, Money until the world burns and they find out that you can't eat money.

Big opportunity for a good change here.

The premier league will survive without them. Be a better league with more competition. I’d watch it more knowing there’s a chance pretty much any team could win it with a good season. It’s more of an incentive for teams like us to get back up there too.

European football would be more competitive too. There’s still some massive clubs who could compete in the champions league. Bayern, Porto, PSG, Dortmund, Ajax etc. Not to mention some of the English teams who could be big again in European football.

I really hope football doesn’t roll over to these greedy bastards.

I just can’t picture a domestic league without them in it or no more World Cups which is what this will bring around.
There’ll be a compromise where they get yet more power in the champions league but get to continue with everything else.

There will be World Cups - it just won't involve players from those clubs.

It won’t go ahead.

A combination of the government, Fifa, uefa and the premier league could put a stop to it just through applying their own implications

FIFA, UEFA and the FA and the FAPL can kill this dead just by enforcing their rules and not allowing any of these teams or their players to play in any FIFA/UEFA/FA competitions.

The rest of us can then get on with our football and watch those "Super League" teams die.

Ironically, the Premier League which was formed as a breakaway group by greedy clubs is the organisation which stands to suffer most from it.

this^^^^

If you took them out the PL then you have a hell of a competitive division

So it would be a mid week competition to replace the champions league for a select few and the rest of the premier league now have little to place for, no chance of winning the league, no spl, a worthless European Cup.... Just fodder for the glorious elite we should all feel privileged to witness.

Fans from all leagues (UK and abroad) should be feeling the same way.... disgusted... its not just our league(s) this impacts.... if the reports from a 'board member' are true I can only see this being the tip of the iceberg.... These six clubs WANT this (or rather the owners). They care not for the 'domestic' fans at all just the brand that they have bought.... and the revenue which it can supply to its shareholders.... nothing more.....

I think UEFA are in a tricky position though - they can hardly claim the moral high ground when it comes to dodgy backroom deals. Sepp Blatter and the Qatar WC for starters.

Andy Hunter, our Merseyside football correspondent, sends in Peter Reid’s thoughts as communicated to Sky earlier today: “The elitism is driving me mad,” he said. “You have to be careful what you wish for in football. I think they (the Super League clubs) will put the sort of elite players out in the so-called Super League and the Premier League will be devalued, and it shouldn’t be. Some of the toughest games when I was playing for Everton and Manchester City were against teams who had come up and been promoted, and the atmosphere was great.
“There is a devaluing of the domestic league which I hate. There should always be an aspiration to get to the elite. Burnley were going out of business a few years ago and are now a Premier League side. You have to have that dream, the tradition, the heritage of these football clubs. To have an elite 12 or 20, it doesn’t sit right with me.
“It’s all money. Real Madrid have massive debt, Barcelona have massive debt, Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, has driven this. I love the competition of football, and I love the fans being there. If you have an elitism? Nah. Not for me.”

Reid is one of the good guys. I also enjoyed his recent mocking of recent footballing buzz-phrases.

Was just going to post the same. SSN are quoting a board member from one of the clubs and it sounds like they aren’t bothered if they are kicked out of the PL. Apparently the riches are too big
Might as well do it then. Fuck them. Send them on their way. A new revamped PL would be massively appealing to me. I haven’t watched it for years. The whole circus that surrounds it bores me. Preferring to finish 4th over winning a trophy? No thanks! Let’s take it back. Leeds, Villa, Everton, West Ham, Leicester, Wolves, The Mags, clubs down the divisions, Us, Forest, Derby. Let’s be able to dream again. This ‘elite’ 12 can sit and count their money and compare balance sheets while the rest of us get on with proper competition.
