I'd take letting Chelsea and Man City off Scot free if they pull out and spoil the party. Then hammer the other four down to the very bottom league and make them work their way back up.

Chelsea and City are ***** as well but sometimes you have to play politics to win. Get them in board and sell the other four down the river.

This ^

I heard someone on TV yesterday saying the government would consider amongst other measures a windfall tax on the six clubs. Government intervention in football has been coming for a while, this is probably the straw that breaks the camels back

Cloud cuckoo land mate. There is not a legal challenge that can be won for removing revenue from matches they have already played or from stripping a business of it's trademarks.
Best thing that could happen out of this is that government bring in legislation forcing the FA to adopt a rule that all clubs in the pyramid system must be minimum 51% fan owned and preferably find a legal way to make it affordable for them to make that 51% acquisition.
You don't have to own 51% to have 51% of the votes.

In theory, you could have an owner who owns 99% of the club but only has 50-1 votes. The other 50+1 votes are given to the members who own just 1%.

Interesting if reports are true that City & Chelsea are having second thoughts
That would leave the 3 who are owned by americans who have there own franchises in the US,
& Spurs who are in more debt than the continent of Africa

Liverpool fans don't want them being part of it. Most of the other clubs real fans probably don't want it either. That is probably certain.
It does not take away from the fact that the PL is 100% responsible for the current state of English football. The excessive greed of the clubs who started it, greed is correct because they wanted the biggest piece of the pie, is what caused the massive debts throughout football. Any club that had a desire to progress had to compete with those higher up financially. The PL drove them costs up.
All the talk about improving the standard of English football was bullshit. The national team is no better.
Like it or not the actions of those clubs who started the PL have led to this.
100% agree with this and it has all been fed by the millions of plastic PL fans who ignore their local clubs

And then get Mike Dean to referee them on alternative weeks with absolute freedom to shit all over them.

It would be funny as fuck that

You can chat as much shit as you want to matey but the plain simple fact is that Spurs are one of the “big six” clubs in this country, 2 titles is shit I would agree and no recent tangible success either, fact Is if Spurs had won a 90 minute football game in Madrid in 2019 you wouldn’t be spouting your shite would you.

How is it embarrassing to have won 17 trophies including 3 European ones, having the best facilities in world football, being one of the richest and most valuable clubs in the world and having a massive worldwide fan base.

You are being really nasty mate, but being a Sunderland fan I guess you are in a great position to take the piss out of a little club like Spurs aren’t you.

“University of Liverpool”

Has anyone asked Peterlee Polytechnic who they’ve got at the top of their list?

I wasn’t defending that fact what you are saying is clearly true and obvious, I was simply pointing out that the £150m gate receipts was not fictional income as another poster had wrongly suggested.
If there is any way in which the government can enforce Spurs paying back the amount outstanding on the BoE's COVID loan (initial loan of £175m) with immediate effect, then it should do so as a sign of solidarity with the wider football community in this country. Spurs can surely tap JP Morgan for any shortfall. Or its "massive worldwide fanbase....."

All this may be so ,but the simple fact is these clubs are being stole from their roots

You know absolutely fuck all. Short spent an absolute fortune on SAFC and spent it horrendously. He took over when we were in the prem, spent a fortune, lost a fortune, gave the club away and left us in league one. Why comment on something you have no idea about.

'oh I have friends on the board' woopy fuckin doo that might impress the other cockney virgins down your local wine bar but no one gives a fuck here.

Have yourself a double relegation and 4 seasons in the third tier and come back and tell us how many fans you have then and how much of a big club you are.

The second you aren't competing at the top of the premier League the toys are out of the pram, if you had anywhere close to what we have been served up you'd have an empty stadium every match.

The only thing it's got to do with money is that we had too much of it through the door and had thick fuckers in charge of spending it
You are talking absolute shit yet again, why would I not know what is going on ffs, any fan from any club with half a brain could see that Sunderland were buying mostly shit or average players season after season that was dead easy to spot, the fact that I have been on this board regularly for many years would suggest that I would definitely know what was going on at Sunderland as well.

I simply and correctly said that as soon as Short stopped putting his money in the shit hit the fan and you ended up with even worse players and dropped down the Leagues what part of that cant you grasp you angry little feck.

There will be a compromise at some time where more money will be given to these 6 and the other ones in Italy/Spain. Tottenham or Real Madrid paying Gareth Bale £300K a week to sit on the bench explains exactly why these clubs need more money. Any increase in income goes straight into the players/agents pockets. And to think the EFL want to stop players in L1 and L2 getting even a fraction of Bales weekly wage in a full year. Listening to James Milner talking last night further heightened the hypocrisy - a fairly average footballer who will, no doubt, be on at least £50K a week maybe more and will be a multi millionaire - he is part of the problem but he can't see it.
