Never thought they would be to be fair as they haven’t actually competed in another tournament yet which is what the rule says they can’t do

All UEFA said yesterday was that they were looking at what they could legally do. I'm guessing this was simply too soon. After all, all that seems to have happened so far is that the clubs have probably only gone as far as signing letters of intent. Even "irrevocable" letters of intent can be walked away from at a cost.

Was actually surprised they signed up in the first place. They have gate crashed the top 4 themselves and dealt with the 'not a big club' comments for years before they made it. I always had a bit of respect for city before all this.
City are owned by a country and don’t need the money . The whole City investment was surely an attempt to promote the UAE . By joining this Super League they are damaging that image.

Got to think of why the owners are there though. Its all about improving the image of Abu Dhabi, making themselves look like serious, respected players on the world stage. When this was mooted they wouldn't want to miss out. If this was to be a huge, global powerhouse they'd want to be in it for the very reasons they bought man city in the first place. They probably didn't exist the backlash and the level of fury throughout the footballing world and beyond. The Americans will have known it was coming but they don't give a fuck because all they want is money. They couldn't give a fuck if we all think they're the devil. The city owners though? This is the last thing they want. And unlike the Americans they don't need the money, what's an extra £300m to these lads? I think they will reassess and pull out

They do it in most other sports - rugby and cricket being the key two. Nothing legally to stop them
we'll see won't we. Going to be a lot of work for lawyers. What about players saying they want to play for their country and wanting to leave and clubs demanding they stay and play in the super league. All sorts of gnarly repercussions.

Yes, we were behind the formation of the PL and there's a lot wrong with the model, I don't think you'd get any match going supporter disagreeing. But it's still an open competition which is the point.

I don't want EFC to be part of any SL even if we were invited. The supporters of all six involved are all united in being against the idea. You think I'm bothered as we're not included and yet again you are totally wrong. English football will continue, there will always be a top tier and I hope we'd always be a part of it. But what I do care about is having some teams who aren't invested in games/results ecause they don't matter to them. That is the crux and where the distortion comes in. Incidentally it'll be the same in the SL, the majority of games will be dead rubbers, so competition is strangled in both. That's what concerns me.
Liverpool fans don't want them being part of it. Most of the other clubs real fans probably don't want it either. That is probably certain.
It does not take away from the fact that the PL is 100% responsible for the current state of English football. The excessive greed of the clubs who started it, greed is correct because they wanted the biggest piece of the pie, is what caused the massive debts throughout football. Any club that had a desire to progress had to compete with those higher up financially. The PL drove them costs up.
All the talk about improving the standard of English football was bullshit. The national team is no better.
Like it or not the actions of those clubs who started the PL have led to this.

Bayern Munich, Porto and Dortmund could be allotted the possible vacant semi-final places left this season if Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid were to be excluded from the #UCL

It seems this isn't happening but if it was Bayern were knocked out by a team that aren't involved in the ESL and are still in the competition so they shouldn't be allowed back in. Porto and Dortmund were both knocked out by teams in the ESL and as such should play each other in a playoff/semi to turn play PSG in the final

Conflicting reports this morning that the clubs have signed the deal to play in the league, while also rumours 2 English clubs are on the verge of backing out. I wonder which is the truth?

Just hand their notice in like any other employee in any other business. The FA then turns around and say the teams in the ESL aren't in the FA anymore and as such they can't hold the registration for a player if they aren't even part of/within the FA/UEFA etc anymore so the players can move free of charge as the world FIFA/UEFA laws surrounding transfer fees don't apply to the greedy fucking six

I don't think it does mate, City pull out and the show still goes on IMO. It's not about having the 'best teams' in there or there would be a few in the queue before Arsenal & Spurs.
I think it massively loses legitimacy if the current best team in England pull out. They've already not got bayern, dortmund or current big pull PSG. Plus if one goes I think others who weren't as certain about it will do the same. Once one leaves, and there's threats of government intervention and the likes, I honestly think it starts becoming toxic

Considering Liverpool owners backed out of furloughing people because of the backlash I can imagine they maybe having doubts now

If the clubs agreement to play in the ESL also stipulates they can continue to play in their domestic leagues and it becomes apparant they can't, then the lawyers will probably be able to drive a bus through their agreement.

One of the teams supposedly thinking about pulling out was allegedly because Man U and Liverpool lied to them. It seems Liverpool are one of the forerunners so doubtful it's them

Oh I completely agree it loses legitimacy to be called the European Super League without the top clubs but I'm not sure that matters a damn to them providing their revenue streams are watertight.

Let’s not forget that the people responsible for this are essentially 6 billionaire families who want more billions. They are the ones that need to be punished.
Kick all 6 out of the EPL and EFL. Penalize them all any revenues from the EPL and Uefa competitions for this season. And take the names away from them where possible - probably all of them except Arsenal. Bring in emergency legislation to compulsory purchase their grounds where possible and lease these and give the clubs name to fan based clubs. One already exists in FC United - although Salford may also want to pitch for that.
Everton can take over Anfield so they don’t have to build a new stadium and let the new Liverpool play there until such a time as they may want their own stadium back.
Pass legislation that allows the players to leave the pig 6 for breach of contract and sue the club for any loss of earnings should they get a new contract on less money with another club.
