European Football Thread 2017/18

Barcelona are currently holding a press conference to defend their summer dealings, here are some highlights:

Robert Fernandez on Deulofeu: "Raised at La Masia, we saw his displays at Everton and Milan & all agreed to bring him back. Big hopes for him" #FCB

Robert on Paulinho: "Always tracked progress at Guangzhou. Not true that he lacks quality, he has experience & will change opinions" #FCB

Robert on Vermaelen: "Didn't get many minutes at Roma but has lot of quality. We have a lot of faith in him. Coach very happy with him" #FCB

Soler on transfers: "We managed to avoid jeopardising the club's heritage and finances. We won't play in this inflated market" #FCB

Soler on Coutinho: "Yesterday, after weeks of offers and talks, #LFC valued a player we wanted at €200m. We decided against that" #FCB

Soler on Neymar: "The fact he activated a clause unilaterally and left for €222m caused everyone to know that we had money" #FCB

Soler on no-confidence vote: "Members are entitled to their opinions. What I'll say is that stock should be taken at end of the season" #FCB

Soler: "If Robert and I sat here & announced we signed 2 players for €270m, we'd have crossed the line & we'd have to resign" #FCB

Soler: "Release clauses are an added handicap for Spanish clubs. We should all play with the same rules" #FCB
