Equal pay for female footballers?

Discussion in 'Pure Football' started by Far Tibetan Mountain, Jun 8, 2019.

  1. Unfortunately the argument against is usually dominated by mysoginists, which dampens the point somewhat, but why should the male game have higher prize money than the female game?

Women's World Cup: Fifa 'entrenched in chauvinism' over prize money, says Hope Solo

Until the standard increases (which it is doing at a rate which is alarming the people who wish to be over protectionist of the mens game,) it is barmy to suggest that female players should receive equal pay, but the argument for equal prize money is surely valid.

Or maybe the men don't deserve to be paid as much they are?

Prize money is based on sponsorship. Less sponsorship and viewing = less prize money

  7. Of course they do. The womens game will only improve toast similar skill level as the mens game when similar funds are put into the training and development of the players. The mens game is still light years ahead but they are moving forward in leaps and bounds.

Also, league football is barely followed but the world cup has a massive following.

There's no such thing as equal pay in football..
  11. The womens world cup is bringing in massive sponsorship revenue.

There would be if the prize money was the same.

Equal prize money for competitions that attract fewer paying customers, fewer viewers on worldwide TV and thus attract way less sponsorship revenue?

It's all about about the value of the "product".

The EPL has been the most valuable League in the World for a while, because people want to watch it.

How many actually watch the Womens Football? It's worth F all.

  14. I dont now but it would certainly make more if the training facilities and coaching was as good as the mens. Like tennis and athletics

Before we decide, let England women play England men. If the women draw or win, they get equal pay.

That's what it comes down to at domestic levels certainly. Do the England women get the same fee as the men do though? I'm not entirely sure how that works?

It's like saying should all premier league players be paid equal, all championship, all league 1. It's bollocks, doesn't work like that
