Pity their committee hadn't the foresight to move to the purpose built ground that was on offer when they wanted to build houses on the site, about 7 or 8 years ago.
That would have put the club on a sound financial footing and made a statement of intent.
The ex-pro, Jimmy Adams, was a real gent - used to drink with the visitors after a match rahter than with his team mates. Great gesture !
Anyone got any idea who is running junior cricket in durham next season. The rumour was that the DCB was taking over its running but this doesnt seem to have been confirmed. Also anyone know when the junior fixtures are out?
Great, thanks for that.DCB are definetely running it. Their is a meeting for all clubs to attend (only 1 delegate per club) on Monday 25th February when all will be revealled. Fixtures will also be issued at this meeting.
Hope this helps.
Going to miss you mate...... :-(
Will miss your cooking/BBQ's even more though :--

What about the Elites - you cant leave us like that!
The buying of the ground was never offered mate just talked about. Still being talked about even now but won't happen as Council don't have any money.
He is or was still a regular up in the NE until he got his job with Kent. Saw him many a time at Ropery Lane and also, as you saw, at The Riverside talking with Gareth Breese, who I think he stays with when he is up here.remember when they had jimmy adams on their books, nice bloke
I thought it was John Hellens Contracts who wanted to buy the ground and build on it & then build a new cricket ground for Eppleton......well actually I know that as I was friends with John when he lived at Felledge Farm in Waldridge for a while.
The Council didn't come into it.
I can guarantee there was no official offer put forward. Houses could not be put on it and still cannot be put on it as it is part of the Heton / Houghton plans for development by Sunderland Council. There would of been no planning permission given for housing.
As I say there was plenty talking but nothing materialised. Trust me.
