Thiiiiiings can only get better....... Unless we lose to the Scots !

Scotland admittedly have a few decent county lads in their side and the way our lot are stinking the tournament out I wouldn't even be surprised if we get turned over.

That said, most people would've expected us to lose to both Australia and NZ so let's be honest - the plan is still on track really. Even if it is so underwhelming.

We've been playing that badly this past few years that we've gone to the level of associate nation - perhaps Scotland is our level

I feel they have to put Hales in. Whether it's for Ballance to open instead of Modern Ali or to go 3. Not that Hales' form deserves a game, I just feel it's the most logical solution. We're in dire need of some kind of limited overs identity and Hales is probably the biggest specialised one day player we have.

Fully agreed, I don't think they will mind

Nah me neither. Shite isn't it

Embarrassing how long our tail is too and if Tredwell plays that changes nothing.

That's the scary thing - I'm not convinced by Woakes' batting, Broad has regressed as a bastsman and Finn, Tredwell and Anderson are all 10/11 players in all forms of the game.

A pint of what you're having!

I really wouldn't like to call this one, it could be closer than you think.

Hales for Ballance and Tredders for Finn hopefully. Put Modern Ali in the middle order where he belongs, and move everyone else up one.

Finn simply cannot play in this world cup again, and I'd say the same for Ballance as well who looks absolutely horrific.

I agree with you here like, I didn't mind Ballance in theory, as I have said on here, as I thought the batting was too shaky, but has been suicide putting a young lad in who had played one competitive game since September, much better players than him would of failed.

Not having Ali as opener, he isn't good enough IMO he is a middle order batsman, Hales is worth ago just because they need to mix it up

Tredwell has to play and if Broad is going to play ahead of Finn then he needs to bat at number 11, he is absolutely shot to bits, Johnson and then the broken nose last summer as clearly had an affect on his batting, which is a shame

Hales and Tredwell in, apparently. No mention of who for.

Source? Hope so mind. Ballance out and one of Finn/Broad for me. Agree with the earlier comments regarding Broad's batting. We've effectively got three number elevens at the moment and Woakes is nowt flash. Arguably the worst number 8 at the tournament (associate nations aside).

Would love to see (if Aleem is right)

Bell
Hales
Root
Taylor
Morgan
Modern Ali
Buttler
Woakes
Tredwell
Anderson
Finn

Finn for me is a better new ball option than Broad and if Hales is coming in he has to open. Ideally I'd bin Woakes too but considering Jordan isn't much of an improvement he's in by default

Bumble. He's called the last few team selections right. Might be pure luck, but I don't see what he would gain from typing "should see Hales/Tredwell in today" on social media. I also feel your team should be the one to play. Mind, it's overcast in Christchurch so is it a bowl first day?

Tredwell isn't too bad with the bat actually.

In fairness we shouldnt have to worry how good our number 9s & 10s are with the bat when we are playing against Scotland like.

Its a poor poor team whoever plays imo.... Root, Ali, Ballance, Bell.... Not convinced they have the big shots needed to be top quality Limited over batsmen imo. And the bowlers... Don't get me started.
