Who has turned on him? You are the only one that doesn't believe he is capable of batting in the top 5 at test level. Others have argued that apart from Root he is our best player. It's everyone else that has faith in him

Hes doing fantastic at 7. Keeping him there is exactly the same argument you have made for having Bairstow there. He plays the role superbly - if it ain't broke don't fix it. Tell Bairstow to get his act together - hes out of form but one of the best player in the country.

What's done is done - Buttler is amazing at 7. One place fixed and you are the biggest supporter of not upsetting the applecart. Anyway today is it Bairstow opening or Bairstow at 7? I cant quite keep up

These sort of tailend partnerships are killers for a bowling side. Great to watch if your are the batting teams fan.
As usual wickets 6 to 10 are the crucial deciders at test level.
Win that battle every game and you usually win a series.
This one being a prime example and it will be crucial next summer v Australia

We don’t get enough credit for our all rounders, almost like the runs don’t count as much as they ain’t scored by the top 4

Fields have been odd this morning. Not sure why he’s offered so many easy singles? These 2 have cruised to a 100 partnership without any drama and it’s totally changed the complexion of the game.

I know mate and realise the Bairstow opening comment was just a one off idea. I'm still within my rights to use it
Buttler and Bairstow can play that role at 7 fantastically well. personally I think an inform Bairstow is better equipped long term to bat in the top 5 for England even if you do have his lack of form on your side at the moment.I know mate and realise the Bairstow opening comment was just a one off idea. A whole summer batting lower than 5, having a degree of freedom with responsibility which is important for a player like him. Ive never said he couldn't bat at 5 either (I certainly dont recall doing so) although some others have. I'm a huge fan and was leading the case for his inclusion more than anyone else - preferably at 7 with the gloves but you have to find a place for Jos Buttler somewhere.
