It is, but they weathered that tough session last night with the ball swinging (not without luck admittedly) and got us through to the morning whilst still scoring some runs. A positive approach, get through the first 20/30 minutes and we'll be in a great position to have a good day. Hopefully this will be our last batting innings before the WIndies, so even though it's not the end of the world if one of them goes early, it would be the ideal way to sign off the summer if every batsman can go into these 7 months with no proper cricket having had a good innings now.

Ballance and Cook, 2 quality players.

There is without doubt room for an aggressive opener, Hales please!

Bumble trying to make sense of the Indian field placings to Gary Ballance. Good luck with that.

Dhoni does some bizarre things like, you can tell that these things usually work in ODI and 20/20 stuff

Luckiest 79 you will ever see, hope the bloke doesn't think his batting problems are sorted.

Cook has ran out of lives. Shame I would have loved to see him past a ton!

Gone for 79

Didn't deserve 50, should have been out lbw last night

He deserved 79 because thats how many runs he got, you can't count luck in test cricket, he will of been out plenty times when he hasn't been in the past

Earlier this summer one somehow hit the underside of his thigh pad and onto the wickets, you take the rough with the smooth.

Valuable runs again.

Lucky or not, whether he 'deserved' it or counts for very little though. 79 is a good knock for him and there isn't a batsman at any level anywhere in the world who wouldn't welcome a bit of luck at the crease.

Exaclty, that's cricket, it is all about luck, there is no exact science, goes down as 79 for Cook, and nobody will remember that he should of been out a couple of times.

Root got dropped on 7 before he got 180 against the Aussies last year, irrelevant.

He got dropped twice and had a plumb lbw let-off. That's not a 'bit' of luck, its a mountain of the stuff.

Balance looked good value for every one of his scores, Cook has been shaky as owt. Gets near a ton and goes all jelly nackered.
