WTF is he playing at that for?

Just leave the f@@king thing alone - the bloke's head is totally shot when it comes to batting.

I would honestly bat Anderson before Broad - at least he shows some heart and bottle.

Broad has about as much bottle as an empty beer crate.

I don't care what number somebody bats, if they don't value their wicket and at least try to protect it it winds me up. Broad's batting REALLY winds me up. There are no excuses for it.

I agree on that innings but he’s done this loads lately

Loads of 50s 60s

I understand the doubts, but I having watched th majoroty of the balls this year, Buttler realy does have the most solid defense in the side

He has done this 4 or 5 times since coming back in the side

My opinion is Bairstow at 7, Stokes at 6, Buttler at 5

By the way, Stokes is trying his f***ing heart out, he has barley played a shot in 2 innings

Awful run for Root, but shocking running

I wasn't popping at Buttler generally, he's in good nick. I just think he was very lucky yesterday.

Stokes is chronically out of form, but is really applying himself. He's batting like Boycott at the moment. When he rediscovers some touch I hope he looks back on this period and finds a better balance to his game.

Where would you bat Ali? Eight? And Curran/Woakes nine? I don't want that - I like having four seamers and two spinners and I think we should f***ing go for it. We have the players to make an all-surface, all-condition, settled team. We should try, even if it is not the best team in the short-term. If we can sort out the top order, we don't need people like Woakes coming in at number nine.

For me, I'd have Ali at five, Stokes six, Buttler seven. On form, you could say Buttler would be five and Stokes seven - but Stokes is settled at six, Buttler settled at seven and we've got to stop messing these lads around - Ali most of all.

Bairstow? I know he got 90 a couple of tests ago, but I'm not sure he gets in the team. His technique - which the Sky lads have been pulling apart, rightly - standing at f***ing leg, showing all his stumps is not good enough. What the fuck is he doing? I have genuinely never seen a test class batsman do something so technically stupid and so easily correctable - just take your guard in the right place lad?! What is Ramprakash f***ing paid for unless its to point this out? This isn't a post-release technical flaw, like Jennings has, which is very difficult to correct. It's basic - there's no excuse.

Unless he irons that out then he'll struggle for Yorkshire, let alone England. As for the broader question - can we afford to have him and Buttler in the team? The answer for me is probably no. A while ago I'd been touting him as a potential opening experiment - and on form, maybe its worth a look. I think he'd struggle in England, but I don't see why he couldn't bat like David Warner (and he does in ODI) against the Kookaburra and on truer pitches abroad. But if he can't out-bat Buttler and can't elevate himself into the top four, then he's not in the team. As I say, I want to gamble with six bowlers to make a better long-term team - and all the others (Ali, Stokes, Curran/Woakes) offer with the ball. In a straight shootout, Buttler is currently on top, batting more sensibly and is better at getting reviews right behind the stumps too, an underrated skill.

So I might consider dropping him. Especially if he keeps f***ing sulking about the gloves.

Bairstow doesn\t get in the team? What the fuck?:eek:

Of course he does!! He bats 7, where he was absolutely world class for England.

And you never ever need 6 bowlers, its completely pointless.

Broad and Jimmy will run through these on this pitch

You've called it. I reckon Ali will get three or four too.

You do abroad.

I say again - look at his technique, unless he sorts it out he'll struggle for Yorkshire. I don't know where it's come from - Sky have been doing some great analysis on him. He's taking his guard outside leg!
