Scott Borthwick isn't a test match bowler - yet.

Adam Riley - fair enough he's taking wicket but they're against second division plodders - massive difference.

Rashid - doesn't play regular in the 4 day team

It really wouldn't surprise me if they went down the route of Tredwell tbh.

teh same tredwell who has been loaned out by kent as he can't get in the side ahead of riley?

i think they'll just carry on as is and hope the batting carries the lack of spin until borthwick/kerrigan/riley are deemed ready enough for a go

The same Tredwell who is now playing for a team in a higher division? Very bizzare,

I wouldn't pick him but those dull wankers probably will

I can't think of any Test match ever where the opening bowlers have been taken off after 5 overs on the 1st morning.

Can you?
Without checking, am sure Clarke brought Watson on after 3 or 4 overs last summer. Not sure if it was the first morning/first innings but it was definitely at the start of the innings

EDIT: 3rd Test at Old Trafford. Nathon Lyon came on to bowl the 7th over of England's 1st innings (2nd innings of the match)

it looks odd from the outside of course but obviously riley is better [in kent's opinion and whilst you'd expect them to know best this is kent we're on about] and sussex whilst in a higher division may have no spinners worth their salt so tredwell is the best option.

So stokes is on in the 11th over ...does that mean that one of the opening bowlers has been brought off after 5 overs on the opening day of a test?

See it in the 2nd innings occasionally, match conditions dictating and all that, I was asking about the 1st morning. I was at that, about an hour before the close on day 2.

I thought you might come up with a Sri Lankan match or something, entirely possible given that they had no seamers of note for years (outside of Vaas).

12th over for the first change, hardly bowling them into the ground.

2nd Test at Lords. Watson bowled the 5th over of the game replacing James Pattinson

You've completely missed the point of my post.

Madness that our quickest bowler isn't given use of the ball when it's at it's hardest

Nice one, I couldn't remember that at all. Pattinson went off the field and came back on the next over from that end, but fair enough.
