Heard its pretty horrible?

Had one a couple of weeks ago and also got a colonoscopy at the same time. Not the spit-roast I had in mind, but all went OK and nothing untoward found.

They sedate you out here as standard practice, so as mentioned above you're lying there waiting, then next thing you know you're being woken up and it's all over. So if sedation is an option, then take it.

Had one last year and it wasnt pleasant, just had the spray to numb your throat so you feel nothing but had a bit of a panic attack when they first tried but listened to the staff and relaxed and was ok second attempt. took about 15 mins.

Do they not give you the option of sedation?

It’s a horrible thought but if it makes you better get it done. These medics do it all day everyday. The thought is worse than the execution.

Had it done twice. Was awake both times, once down my throat & once up me nose. Wasn’t given the option of sedation. Was t nice like, but it needed doing.

I had the sedation offered and it was fine. It doesn't knock u out completely as you have to swallow at a certain point but I had no memory of it. Really weird. You have to be picked up if you have the sedative.

Correct and for this reason I chose not to be sedated . First one was ok - not great but ok . The last one in 2021 was brutal !!! As posted earlier I would have the one heading north that the one heading south

I had it down my throat a while back for the same thing. Numbing spray to the throat was all. It’s not nice and as they inflate your belly to get s good look you burp a lot but they let me look at the monitor so a bit surreal- all over in 10 mins and nothing to worry about

One tip is to hold the mouthpiece that protects the camera between your teeth with as little in your mouth as possible rather than let most of it enter your mouth and be held in place by your lips. Makes you feel more in control.

I preferred this over an MRI which freaked me out.

On ya side, knees bent and you get to watch on the sceeen. If its a bloke doctor though from the recipients angle it does look like hrs bumming you.

As you've been inflated with some air you spend the next few hours after farting your back off.

First time got sedated so had to wait a couple of hours, and have some bait before getting picked up. There were three of us all chilling out, farting away, laughing our heeds off.

It's class.

My poor dad has had four - two without sedation, two with.

He said the sedated ones are a lot, lot better, and the ones without, are 'not reight nice' - which, in his language, means they are the worst thing ever.

I hope everything goes well for you. Bloody endoscopies.
