Employers snooping social media

Correct, not without a court order which obviously they would never get in normal circumstances. I couldn’t even find out the name of most people on here anyway as we don’t collect that at signup, only an email address.
Since you need proper email addresses I imagine most posters use a work email ?

Free emails addresses aren’t usually accepted. I think internet provider emails are allowed and private emails such as work emails
Never gave it a thought before but just looked… I’ve used my email address which is my first and last name. No issues tracking me down.

Good job I’m an all round lovely person.

If you are using their computers or networks they can potentially see everything you do. If its your own hardware/networks they would have to work it out from what you have posted. Obviously once they identify a user its easy to search for everything you have ever posted.

But nothing on here auto refreshes so that makes no sense.
I just left it open in the background and that’s what they told me 🤷‍♂️

I understand that employers can sweep your online content for unpalatable views, but can you be sacked for them in the UK, even if they’re unrelated to the company?
We’ve been told to watch what we post in case people think they are the views of the company.
However my social media doesn’t reference the company in any way, so how could they make that case against you?
Also, what about the smb? As it’s anonymous, is there any (legal) way employers can link content on here to you?
@Roger
Gone are the days of the old made up c.v.

Of.course every job applicant has their social media checked before interviews??

Every company has social media these days for advertising. As an employee you post anything bad on there of course your going to get sacked

Would you walk into your companies owner office and say this is a crap place to work etc etc and expect to walk out with not getting the sack???

The world is a weird place if you think not.

dangerous i think especially now when people are accused of being transphobic for holding perfectly reasonable views.

Aye, everyone's for the Thought Police until their opinion becomes verboten.

There are genuinely people who don't fear their rights being taken away because they will adapt their opinions to the prevailing ones, every single time. Imagine being that soulless.
